Can't Sleep
O.K. folks, I have been having such a hard time sleeping. I have been going to bed at 1:30, 2:30 a.m. just about every night and getting up at 6:00 a.m. I am very tired and try to read, exercise, do crossword puzzles, clean, crochet, bubble bath......you name it and I have tried it.
I know that tonight I won't be able to sleep because I am anxious about going back to work after being home for the summer. This happens to me every year on the day before going back to school. Hopefully I will be mentally tired with going back to work and will be able to go to bed earlier and sleep the night. Any suggestions?
Morning Laura, Getting into a regular habit about a 1/2v hour before going to bed suppose to really help. Be it just a little streching, listening to soft music , even just deep breatrhing to calm you down. I'ts been said that counting backwards also helps asit keeps your mind so busy it cannot focus on other things that may stress you out. Just heard this on "John Tesh" so give it a shot! Best wishes and hopefully "Sweet Dreams"
Hi Laura -
I, too, have a major problem sleeping. My activities follow yours almost to a T. I also have to add walking my dogs at 3:00 am to my list.
I have a severe case of restless legs. I complained to my PCP that I was tired all the time so he ordered a sleep study. I had that last Thursday night and suffered one oof the most tortuous nights of my life. If I slept, the most was for about 1 1//2 hours. I honestly didn't think I had sleep apnea - just rls which is a sleep disorder. Yesterday at 5:30, I received the results. I have severe sleep apnea. They wanted me to go back and have another study done - this time with the CPAP on. They told me I had had NO rem sleep last week.
So I let them put the mask on and I fell asleep almost immediately. I was out of it all night. The mask is not the most comfortable or sexiest thing on earth, but it sure does its job. Could'a knocked me over with a feather!
I guess what I'm saying is I know your pain. Have a sleep study done and get some relief.
hugs,
Linda
Just had another sleep study 2 months ago and they actually took me off the CPAP Machine. Since I have lost weight, I don't need it. Even when I was on the machine, I was not able to sleep well. BUT...........yesterday was my first day back to work at the high school and I was in bed at 9:15 p.m. and I actually fell asleep quickly and woke up at 5:00 .m. I know that tonight I will be sleeping by 10:30 because my eyes are so tired from typing numbers for 5 straight hours.
Nighty Night everyone
