The only other restaurant we go to over there is Eclise..and not so much now that they have one in Stamford. Used to hit Davey Burns all the time once the bars in Stamford closed but those days are long gone.
The 23rd...which just so happens to fall on a Saturday this year so I should be good and blinded by alcohol for my birthday
Next time you go visit family, ask them to take you to Kelly's. It is the best pub food (its a restuarant mostly, but very casual). Don't know Davey Burns, I guess I'm too old.
Eclise has been in Stamford a long time, no? I don't like going out for Italian that often cause no one makes it like I can, so it just isn't worth it, but we have found one in Norwalk that we really like, Pasquales, food is really good for a restaurant and being in CT ( I know I'm a NY snob when it comes to this, especially pizza, but I can't help it)
Hey, I'm having a party on the 23rd (jewelry party for the ladies), I'll have to remember to silently toast you Wow, this is cool. Do you realize how many of our birthdays are within a few weeks of each other on the "other" board? Me, you, Kim, Stacy, Dianna...

If you haven't been to Eclise go there. The food is very VERY good (and that is coming from someone else who prefers home cooked food). Make sure you go with someone who is hungry though because the portions are gigantic.
I have done alot of research on pizza and I have something to admit that I can't even believe is going to come out of my hands...I think the best pizza's I have ever had have been in New Jersey. I know it sounds crazy but I have had pizza ALL over NY City and still none as good as some of the places in Jersey. As far as CT pizza goes there are only 3 places I would even rank in the category of "good pizza"...Colony in Stamford (if you like thin crust)...Pepe's in New Haven...and Modern Apizza also in New Haven. It's a mighty good thing that I had this surgery though because pizza used to be my downfall .

Whoops, forgot one. Sallys Apizza in New Haven too. Now all I can think about is pizza...this is going to be one long afternoon
Strange, but I didn't get this yesterday.
I love pizza, but can't really do the crust. I'll take a couple of bites of it.
My choice for best pizza...
Roma in Tuckahoe, ny (very similar to Colony, but better cheese and sauce has a bit more flavor) Last meal for me on the saturday before surgery
I do not like NYC pizza either. Most of them are too doughy.
I worked for Pizza & Brew for many years, so I can say I'm a bit partial to their pizza, but haven't had it in years.
This past weekend I was in Sag Harbor with a customer and we stopped to get a slice at this famous old time pizza place out there and I have to say, it was the bomb. If I remember correctly it was called, Conca D"Oro.
You'll find the local pizza places in NY are as good as NJ. I do know why, its the water. Sounds strange, but any good pizza place will tell you the dough consistency is all from the water.
2 things in food I adore, Pizza and BBQ. Now we just need to find a bbq place worth bragging about in New England

" Now we just need to find a bbq place worth bragging about in New England" Girl, if you haven't been there yet go directly to Jeff's Cuisine in Norwalk...it's across from the movie theatre where Subway is. Their pulled pork, ribs, po boy sandwiches etc. etc. are so good. The place is top notch around here for some BBQ.
Yes, yes, I know Jeff, he is a friend of my son-in-laws. I've eaten there several time**** or miss with me, but I am spoiled when it comes to BBQ and I'm very picky about BBQ sauce. We like Bobby Q's in Westport because you can choose from several different sauces. It must be great for you for lunch for Jeff's (and what the hell are you doing eating po boy sandwiches)
This is not right talking food right now and the staff here is throwing a party for one of our summer interns and there isn't a damn thing I can eat. Cookies, donuts, danish, bagels, bundt cake, etc, etc. I just did my eggs so I'm full, but just isn't the same. ~breaking into the Streisand song, MMMEEEEEMMMMMMOOOOORRRRRRIIIIIEEEESSSSS~

Yeah I realized a few posts ago that we are sitting here on this board talking about food, how ironic .
..I don't eat the sandwiches but I have tasted them...I go right for the BBQ chicken. Yum.
Good save!!!!
Someday if we can ever see each other again, I MUST give you some of my chicken I make in my smoker and for that matter the ribs I do too. It took me a few months but I've perfected it. I love, love, love my new smoker. Sad how something that stupid can make me happy, but as you know, I ain't got much else.
Got anything good going on this weekend? We're meeting friends for dinner at SONO and staying on the deck for drinks and music tonight. Tomorrow is a get together at a friends house, potluck, but it's fun to just hang out and not spend $$ at a bar. Sunday is my family reunion down in Yonkers. Not into it this year, but my aunt is still kicking, so I made a promise to myself I would keep going as long as she is around. Plus I haven't seen my brother in a long time and miss him. Of all the people in my life, he has always been my rock, my protector. He basically raised me and we were on our own as teenagers.
I'm glad I'm at work today, we are having the windows in my house replaced today. Should be interesting what kind of mess I go home to after work. Had to do it though, the windows were pretty bad and the electric bill was getting too damn high
