Protein Bars
Does anyone have a suggestion as to a protein bar that doesn't have a lot of sugar in it? I am having a tough time at work trying to get my meals in. We are way to busy and way to understaffed for me to try to sit and eat a meal in 45 minutes. I figured a protein bar might cure some of this problem. I'm getting sick of shakes. Any help at all would be appreciated. can you believe this is the first time in 3 weeks that I have had a chance to come to these boards???? Boy do I miss reading!!!
I have to say though that the other day when I was about to put a piece of chocolate in my mouth cuz I was so stressed all of you popped into my head with advice you've given over the past couple of months. It was at that point I realized I needed to call my OH sponsor!!! I did not eat the chocolate, even though I really really really wanted too!!!
So any protein bar suggestions would be greatly appreciated, maybe something with a chocolate flavor???!!!
Thanks
Jen
Hi Jen, Protien bars are subject to a person's personal tastes just like protien powder is. May want to take a ride to walmart and try out few. They have a pretty big selection so you can compare info on them and buy the ones you want to test. I buy Met-Rx protien bars at GNC because of the high protien. They taste ok and keep you full a long time. Good luch onyour search as well as your "Journey".
I love Atkin Advantage Morning high protein bar. Sugar 1g
protein 12
got it from Walmart. I always have this protein bar in my purse , at work in my desk , and at home too. The flavor is Mixed Berry Chewy Granola Also I love Nectar protein drink.
Southbeach Bar is good but I cannot finish all from this bar... half from this bar...
Have fun at Shopping to look for this

Jen,
I've tried the South Beach bars, too sweet tasting for me...
I don't mind the ones from Walmart, just buy a few (in the pharmacy dept, they sell them individually) and see what ones you'll like. READ THE LABELS. Some have a lot of carbs, some have a lot of sugar and sugar alcohols...you have to compare.
Can you take a small soft sided cooler and take a few cheese sticks to have a snack? It's a good source of protein and calcium to boot! Maybe some yogurt, too.
There aren't many choices at the mall food court, so, your best bet is to pack stuff to keep at work.
I've heard from people on the web that the "Power Crunch" bars (available on the web) are to die for. I've not bought them, but have heard many people swear by them.

Hey Jen,
The power crunch bars on the obestiy site are to die for. They are high in protein with no sugar. They have great flavors too. They are like eating a cookie bar. You can get boxes of varieties too.
Just got to www.bariatriceating.com
You will love these and they are very healthy for you too. This site has alot of various items you can purchase that we all can have in our programs.
Take care

Thanks for the tips everyone. I will be ordering tomorrow from the website you all suggested. I have tried the south beach bars and actually dumped from them. I couldn't see straight and thought I was going to pass out.
Paula, we have a fridge at work so I have been bringing my lunch. I tried the tyson chicken with the southwest seasoning, and it was wicked dry. So I am trying to find other things. I can not eat cheese at all. Anything with cheese in it or cheese itself makes me very sick. I get that mucusy thing going.
Thanks again guys!!
Hugs!! Jen
