Accidentally Swallowed Gum
one piece of Trident should pass the stoma uneventfully, however this is why you were/should have been told NO GUM!!! Silly girl!!!
If a few hours pass without pain and/or your next meal goes okay Iwouldn't be too worried- I have heard it can float/swim around in the pouch a bit before heading into/for the stoma to the intestines- so be aware any sudden stomach pain, vomiting, etc., may be gum related and you need to call your surgeon and fess up to being a chewer. In my opinion, knowing we shouldn't chew gum becasue it could cause a problem if we swallow it, makes us higher risk to swallow it- one of those psychological thinghies....LOL- so I dare not venture into gum chewing- knowing me I'd swallow it....and it would get stuck and Dr Aranow would chew me a new one for chewing gum while he retrieved it.....
