HI Janet, I can relate to what happened to you, I got quite weak after using that clean out method and after all that my surgeon didn't show up for the surgery and no one could tell me when he would be available, needless to say I changed hospitals and surgeons. I ended up at Saint Francis hospital and had Dr. Carlos Barba as my surgeon, my experience was a good one and I didn't even need to use any phospho soda cleanout preop! He also has another surgeon in his practice a Dr. Giovanni of whom I have met and have heard good things about. Good luck I don't know anything about your insurance ,have you checked here at OH website under the insurance icon on top? Feel free to email with any other questions you might have All my best Sher

Sher - I never knew that you had a surgeon that didn't show up for you - how horrible! Is that doctor still in practice? Wow - what a rotten experience for you!

Welcome to CT, we're sure glad to have you here! I hope you like our community board. Everyone here is very friendly and we all try to be helpful. Dr. Aranow out of Middlesex, The group out of Yale, Fairfield Cty Bariatrics or Dr. Darren Tischler out of the new program at Hartford Hospital would be top recommendations. I would not fear putting my life in the hands of any of the above. I think what would be best for you to do is call a few Dr's and find out who takes your insurance then set up a few consultations. Don't just choose one doctor- interview a few and choose the one you think is best for you. Some have longer waits than others- please don;t let this be a deciding factor0 even though I know you're probably very dissapointed at having to wait AGAIN. By the way- did you find out what the issue/problem with the phospho thingy prep that you had to take was? Inquiring (and nosy) minds want to know! LOL. Best, Lisa C

Welcome home to CT! I hope your second go around with the approvals goes fast for you - there are so many excellent surgeons in this state we are truly blessed. My surgeon was Dr. Barba and he is excellent. His associate Dr. Giovanni seems awesome too - she recently spoke at a support group meeting and I was impressed with her straight forward manner. They are both very competent surgeons. Best of luck on your journey! Tammy

Hey Mousie, I would love to be your angel my dear. I have a great doctor for you, St Raphaels has a great group in New Haven, along with the other group in Middletown area Dr. Aranow too. The Danbury Hospital group is great too, my friend Melinda just had her surgery there and raves about their programs there. I can find out the surgeons name for you and have you talk to her about it. That might be a closer one for you since your interested in that Hospital. Let me know you can email me privately and I will give you Melinda's phone number and mine and we can chat about it. Take care and welcome home sweetie. Huigs KimC

Thank you all for your kind words. I think I am going to stick with Danbury Hospital and look into the surgeons there since it is closest to my home and I heard good things about their programs. I will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks for all your help. Mousie

hi mousie, my name is cyndee, and i had laproscopic gastric bypass at danbury hospital on april 6th,2006. my initial weight at the total begginning of the program was around 240,now i am at the 170 mark,i have had no complications and doing great,my surgeon was dr.laura choi, the staff in the office is awesome, and the hospital stay was short and sweet,i felt like i was in a five star hotel at most.i have gone from sizes 2-3x to size 12-14.i was on social security disability and now because most of my health issues are dissolving with the weight,i am back to work and going off ssd.if i had to do it all over again,i would most definetely go to danbury.there are alot of good surgeons out there, and everyone has their own sucess stories, but a most important factor to all of them,is that in my case the best i can say is that dr.laura choi and her staff at danbury gave me life back.i hope this was helpful to you, please feel free to e-mail me at anytime,,,,god bless and good luck,,,,cyndee

Hi there Mousie, I am sorry about your cancelled surgery. I couldn't imagine going through that, what a let down! I just wanted to say that I had RNY laparoscopic surgery at Danbury Hospital in May of 2004. My doctor was Keith Zuccala. I have had absolutely no complications at all. My recovery was easier than I had expected it to be. Just be sure to follow all of the instructions they give you. I am about 20 pounds from goal, been maintaining the same weight for about a year. I am scheduled to have plastic surgery in September for a tummy tuck and breast lift, and then a thigh lift in February. Good luck to you. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help. Anne 313/190/?

Hi Mousie, Sorry about the ills of the prep. YUK I live in Rhode Island and chose to have Dr Aranow as my surgeon. I even had a problem with my stomach last week and had to drive the hour each way to see him, but, he's SO wonderful, it was worth it, in my opinion. I'd say, to find the right doctor "match" for you, go to their seminars. Dr Aranow has one a month at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. I'm sure the others have seminars too. They are usually a requirement prior to surgery. Good luck. Any questions, just ask. paula

Hi, My name is Sandy and I had lap-band surgery 6 weeks ago at Danbury Hospital. My surgeon was Dr. Laura Choi. My entire experience with the program at Danbury was and still is excellent. Everyone was wonderful to me, my hospital stay was pleasant... I highly recommend them. They are also a center of excellence for bariatric surgery as well. Dr. Zuccala is the other surgeon, and I've heard good things about him as well. They have a web site with tons of information: www.danburyhospital.org Good luck! Sandy
