A day at the beach WOW!
Hi Sher!
I just wanted to let you know of my experiences in my bathing suit. I had a huge swimming pool in my backyard. It was not very private but I didn't caree. This was MY yard and if anyone going by didn't like seeing the fat lady in the swimming pool, my attitude was don't look!
One trip I made with a Boy Scout troop was to Cape Cod. We were at a Scout camp and everyone else was swimming. I said "**** it, I'm going swimming too. Nobody gave me a 2nd look. Then we weent to a big beach further up the Cape. I even went boogie boarding there. The only person looking ridiculous on the beach was one of the fathers who wore his work uniform shirt, a pair of black jeans cut off at the knee and black socks with work boots.
The final incident that helped me lose my inhibitions was on a trip out west, again with the scouts. This time we were in Las Vegas. We went to a large water park. Well, that was just too much to resist. I put on my suit and went floating in the lazy river. My friend and her husband are also big people. They, too, decided to enjoy the park. We had a blast and not 1 person ever gave us a first look much less a 2nd.
I babysit my g-kids during the summer. They have a pool and have been begging me to go in. I hate those ladders but my son bought one strong enough for me to get on. So, I put on my suit and jumped in. They were so glad that Gramma was in the pool. They didn't care I am fat.
I guess my point is this. Even though we are self concious, we need to keep in mind that that is OUR problem if we let it get in the way of our lives. If you get beyond that and someone has the audacity to make a deal of our weight, that's THEIR problem.
Next time, take your suit.
hugs,
linda
