My test is done!!
Hi Everyone.
And, thanks for all of the nice notes and responses to my posts.
I got to Middletown (well, Bristol first to drop off kids) and back to Middletown with no problems. When I put my mind to something, I get it done!
They did the upper GI and I drank the stuff down and the radiologist was there watching it go down. I had to stand and drink, lay down and drink, etc.
He said the upper portion of esophagus and pouch look great. Thank GOD...and the small intestines have no blockage at all. Another thank God. BUT, the barium ran through my intestines SO quickly, he thinks I'm having a bout of irritable bowel or inflammatory bowel disorder. I've had IBS before, so, this is probably just my first flair up since having surgery and it feels different.
He called the results in to Lois and she called me. I was still back in Bristol visiting with my sister and brother in law. She said all was fine, but to still take it easy with food and to rest. She said that Dr Aranow had called in from on vacation out of state and she told him I was having trouble. He will be in the hospital on Friday for a surgery, so will call Lois afterwards to see how I'm doing. I have to call her Friday morning to let her know if I still have the "d" going on, and if so, she'll send me for some stool cultures. If need be, Dr A said he'd make an exception (he's not seeing office patients on Fri, just surgery) and see me in the office. What a guy.
Lois is a sweetie too. She was SO mad at what I went through in the ER, that she told radiology that they better take good care of me and not make me wait! They didn't
So, all in all, I'm feeling a bit better. I was able to get down two slices of low fat turkey breast deli meat and then for dinner a few bites of baked chicken.
I have to drink like crazy to get the barium out. But, it's coming out on it's own, cause of the "d" from the irritable bowel.
I have to take some Nexium for a bit to calm things down.
After last night, today was a much better day, and I got to have a nice visit with my sister! The kids love her and her husband (they're more like their grandparents) and love spending time with them. They are lucky kids!
Thanks to all of you again...I'll keep you posted on how things go.
Sounds like what I went through- everything was running through me like wild fire.
Drink lots and lots don't get dehydrated and land in the hospital like I did.
He does take good care of his bariatric patients. That is one thing about him that you have to give him- he follows us pretty closely- I know me- he's had under his thumb since the whole episode that landed me in the hospital. Everytime Isee him I expect to get put back on the regular post op schedule and then he says he'll see me in like 4 weeks....keeping tabs on me. He'll do the same to you Paula if you aren't careful, LOL it's easier to fly under his radar, you have to behave too much when you are on it....
