Hi Nancy! Everyone was really great, the student nurses were a trip. Apparently someone else on the floor wanted nothing to do with "students" taking their vitals and flipped out. I'm one of those people who figure that they need to learn, so what is the harm. She took out my catheter and my IV when it was time. The dr. pulled out the drain though, that was a really weird feeling. Be sure to tell whomever is taking it out to go quick- I had a drain with my c-section last year and my OB pulled it out much faster than the dr. did this time and it was better faster. Take a deep breath and breathe out when they yank it.
My student nurse was really great, she was telling the others that I was one who let her work on me and apparently I was the cool patient for the few days I was there. There were a few that would hang out with me, which was fun to have someone to talk to during the day. They also told me that July was "resident month" there so that was why there were so many doctors coming in to check, so just be warned. That was the only thing I didn't like, they all started their rounds super early and usually woke me up- LOL! The nurses were really on top of the pain meds too, which is great. I didn't need them after the first day though, but in the beginning it was nice to know that all I had to do was ask and it was there soon thereafter.
I'm sure that you'll do great!
