bowel movement
I know that Bob was able to have Dulcolax suppositoy to get him to go. This way, you won't affect your pouch at all.
A little bit of prune juice (as per Dr A) is good too. YUCK
If you need me to call Lois for you...I will. Just let me know.
I've never had a problem with bowels, so, I've never taken anything!

Kathy,
A hot cup of tea or broth always helps me...try that first before you do the laxative route. Then, if it doesn't work, do the laxative.
Benefiber is good, I hear, too.
Surgery can make you constipated. The anesthesia does that. Don't bare down too hard, as to pull your sutures.
It'll come out and pass!

HI Kathy!
I have CVS brand stool softner...it is Docusate sodium 100mg. and I just followed the directions on bottle and it worked just fine. Hope this helps! Take them daily for the next 2 weeks...you'll need them between the painkillers binding you up and not to strain your tummy muscles cause they can hurt if you push too hard.

Kathy,
I used ex-lax and it worked fine. Also, since I have this problem once in awhile, I keep stool softeners on hand so that when I notice times when I start having more difficulty, I add them to my vitamins for a couple of weeks and that seems to work for me.
hope you find some relief soon, that is the worst feeling

Kathy,
There's alot of natural herbal teas out there for digestive/regularity. I actually have started incorporating a cup every morning to help me as since the surgery I'm backed up. Noticed a difference after 2 days...it definately helps.
I also have used the powder form of benefiber in my crystal light...it also works pretty well.
Hope you're feeling well dispite the "plumbing being backed up."
Hugs,
Mickey
