BELCHING ?!?!?!?!?!

Can someone please tell me why I belch so much while I eat and up to about 1/2 hour - 45 minutes after eating certain foods (ie: cheese, salad) just 2 name two? I'm 3 months out, drink plenty of water in between meals, I don't use a straw when drinking, I don't drink anything with carbonation in it, and I don't drink when I eat. This is really starting to bug me, as there are times I can't control how loud or deep they are. Thanks in advance, Stacy 269/202/150

Hi Stacy, Sounds like you're taking a lot of air into your pouch. Have you tried Gas-X to calm it down? Maybe you are eating too quickly. Try slowing it down a bit. Are you swallowing air? My hubby is 4 weeks out from surgery and was trying to burp. I told him not to swallow the air he was while trying to burp for it was filling his pouch up with air instead of allowing it to escape. If in doubt, call Lois and inquire about it. paula

Thanks Paula, that could be possible, I didn't think I was eating too fast, but I will start to pay more attention to how fast I do it. If all else fails, Gas-x it will be.

Hey Stacy! Welcome to the world of bypass. Just be thankful it's not coming out the other end! You are experiencing what we all go through. Gas, through belching and other forms, may now be your constant companion. Try the Gas-x, rolaids also makes a soft shew antacid with gas relief that works well too, but all in all, this is one of the parts of this journey nobody tells you about until after. Be careful with the salad, as I know anything leafy tends to make gas worse. Good luck! -Erica
