Sugar Free Italian Ice!!

I didn't know this existed, at least it doesn't in grocery stores yet, but I found some yesterday at an ice cream stand while we were out at the Sailfest in New London. If there is one food that I miss from pre surgery days, Italian Ice is it. The sf popcicles are an okay substitute but nothing like the real thing. The label is "Via Veneto" http://www.viavenetoice.com/flavors/index.html and they can be found at ice cream shops, malls, amusement parks and other places like that. The website says they are in 32 states, so if you are an italian ice fan, look for them. I did a search on sf italian ice and found a couple of brands, one of which (Rita's italian ice), who gave nutritional info: for 6 oz, 62 cals, 16 carbs. I had the sf Lemon and it was delicious. On a side note, I don't know if anyone saw/read this on the news, but we were at that accident scene at the railroad tracks at Sailfest yesterday. An elderyly man drove his car into a crowd of people and injured 27. If we hadn't stopped to talk to some friends, we would have been on the tracks right when he came through. Thank God no one was killed. It was a frightening scene. Terri

Terri, I'm SO glad that you were not in the path of that 89 year old man's car. I read the article in the Westerly Sun this morning. How awful. Why do they let someone so old drive a vehicle from Wallingford to NL to take a ferry? He'll lose his license for sure now. Thank God. Thanks for the tips on the Italian Ice. I would love to try it sometime. Don't think that I'll make sailfest this year, though. Paula

Terri I love Italian ice. Thanks for the info. I read about that accident. It was awful. To think, you were seconds away from being involved. That's what I call a divine intervention. I have experienced several of those during my life. Believe me, I am not religious, but like many, I am spiritual. And I believe in divine intervention. You certainly had an angel on your shoulder then. Hugs, Linda
