I was just informed that I need to have gallbladder surgery to remove my gallbladder/gall stones? Can anyone tell me what to expect?

Laura: I had my gallbladder out years ago, I had laporscopic and went home that day. It was not bad at all. Infact its better that you do this now before you have your surgery. Its not a bad surgery at all. Good luck to you and if you have any questions email me at anytime. Hugs KimC

Mine came out during my WLS. It was full of stones and cholesterol, etc. It did not affect my outcome from the WLS at all and I felt no worse because I had two surgeries in one. I feel no different without it either. paula

I also had mine done with my WLS and it didn't seem to make a bit of difference to my recovery, good or bad. My cousin had her gallbladder taken out (she hasn't had WLS) and she was up and walking the next day. She actually had it done on either the 2nd or 3rd of July and went to the 4th of July picnic last year, no problem. Good luck!

I had my gallbladder out in March. It was nothing for me! Same day surgery and I went home and never took a pain pill. It just felt like I had excercised hard and my stomach muscles were sore. I am sure you will be fine!! Nothing to worry about - mine was done laprascopicaly (sp?). Good Luck! Nancy K

I just had mine out today! It was nothing, in and out. A little discomfort with gas, but that is about it so far. No pain at this point, but if I do have any, it will not even be close to the gallbladder attacks I was having 2 to 3 times a week. Good Luck! Debbie

I was informed that I would have it out as part of the open rny and was also concerned- so I asked the family doctor and she said not to worry about it at all. Dave
