I'm visiting Hartford 7/9-7/21 suggestions on restaurants?
Hi Everyone!
I am attending a training in downtown Hartford 7/9-7/21. I actually lived in New Haven from 1987-89. Iit has been a long time since I last visited Hartford. I am 4 mos. post op. and can eat almost anything, but chicken. I do best eating sushi, and shrimp or steak, like filet. works well also. Do you have any good places to suggest eating out? I am staying on Trumbull St. We have a few nights during the training where dinner is on our own, so I wanted an idea of what may be good. A friend of mine mentioned Peppercorns as possibility for one of the nights. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rebecca from Atlanta
Rebecca,
There are many places to eat in that area, and all within walking distance of Trumbull St. as well.
Hot Tomato's--1 Union Place (by train station)
Max Downtown--185 Asylum St (a tad pricey like Peppercorns)
McKinnons Pub--114 Asylum St
Black Eyed Sally's-- 350 Asylum St
Bourbon St--70 Union Place
Mayor Mikes-- 283 Asylum St
These are just a few. There are many more, as you will see just walking around. Also check out the Greater Hartfor Jazz Fest from the 14-16 at Bushnell Park.
Check out www.hartford.com for more info on restaurants etc.
have fun coming to hartford, you'll have fun at night!!
Walking Distance: Spris (italian, believe has an outdoor patio) Max Downtown, Agave Grill (mexican), Hot Tomatos (italian) and Trumbull Kitchen, Pastis (great continental French), Mayor Mikes (general bar scene and pub food) Black Eyed Sallys (but only if you're into Cajun) There is a Morton's (famous $$ steakhouse chain) on Main.
Unfortuantely- can't think of ANY Japanese rest. in Hartford.
Worth a cab ride: Churrascaria Braza (Brazilian steak house- great outdoor patio), Chale Ipanema (excellent small Brazilian/Portugese rest. often has entertainers), Wood & Tap (great pub atmosphere, outdoor patio)
Also worth a cab ride: Take a cab to West Hartford center one fine weather evening and walk around the shops. Almost any restaurant down there is good, Elbow Room, Max Oyster, and so many others to enjoy)

I vote Trumbull Kitchen or any of the Maxx Group restaurants.....YUM!
