I was hoping some of my fellow WLSers could help.
My cousin works at a research center and is doing a study to help pregnant woman quit smoking. She called me looking for my old clothes. I donated all of them unfortunately and grew back into some!). This young woman is pregnant and her alcoholic manic depressive mother kicked her out of her home. She is from NY state and took a bus here trying to find her estranged aunt but has not found her. She is currently a size 2x and is 5 months pregnant so she will be needing larger clothes. She had 2 pairs of pants and 1 pair of underwear. A pair of pants ripped while she was taking the bus and she was mortified because she didn't have any underwear on. She is trying to get on her feet but everywhere she turns she runs into bad luck. Social services sent her to East Hartford clothing bank for clothing but when she got there they told her they had nothing in her size! On the positive side she has quit smoking! Given her situation, she is very sad and depressed, which is not healthy for the baby. Is there anyone out there that has size 2x-3x clothing or even maternity clothing that could be donated to the young woman? My cousin went out to Walmart and purchased underwear and toiletries for the young woman against her boss's wishes (she told her not to get attached). Please email me with any questions. I am in the Manchester, CT area and can pick up clothing.

I don't know where she is staying but i will check. I have a feeling my cousin will be taking her in! She was crying on the phone yesterdaya.
Just let me know when the clothes are ready and where you are located. Thanks so much!
I can really feel for that young mother. I worry about your cousin though. I hope she doesn't get too attached and get used and hurt in the end. This happens a lot in the professional psych world. Please tell her to always keep her guard up, as manipulations can easily happen in an eye blink. Especially if she doesn't know the woman's total story and background.
