Hi, Paula!
It's not a support group; it's group therapy. There's a morning group and an evening group. There are openings in the morning group, but the evening group is full. I've cut and pasted more info. below (from the latest Middlesex WLS newsletter):
"Because everyone's needs are different following surgery, our program is attempting to provide various forms of support to our patients. Therefore, in addition to the support groups, we are offering two psychotherapy groups for postops. These groups are limited to 8 individuals each and are held bimonthly at the Center for Behavioral Health (i.e. Kim's office). They are aimed at addressing difficulties that postops are facing, providing skills to manage these difficulties, and providing additional support. The groups are billable to insurance, and most insurance plans are accepted. The current groups are:
Group 1: The first and third Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (this group is currently full. However, a separate evening group may be forming later in the year).
Group 2: The second and fourth Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. (this group is still open).
If you are interested in joining either group or putting your name on the waiting list for the upcoming group, please contact Kim at (860) 358-8760."

Hi, again!
I forgot to mention that there's also the REACH program, run by Kim Daniels, which meets once a month on a Thurs. evening for 5 months. That's not covered by insurance and costs $20 per session. It's only for postops and generally is for those who are at least 6 months to a yr. out from WLS. Each session lasts for 1 1/2 hrs. and a different topic is covered each time. The topics include such things as emotional eating, the fear of regaining weight, changes in relationships with others, etc. The last session is in July, so Kim will probably start it up again in a few months.
