Hernia Surgery Recovery
Hello everyone,
Well had my hernia repair on Friday. This experience was pretty much a "drive through" I was in at 5:30am home by 11am..didn't even make it back to the holding station where I started and was discharged in recovery while still recouping from the anesthesia. Didn't like it at all. Got VERY VERY nauseated in the car on the way home. The nurses & Dr. G were great just that they were very crowded & didn't have room.
I had 4 hernias & one Dr. G stated to my husband was like a piece of "swiss cheese" nothing but holes of all shapes and sizes. So guess I was a mess.
This surgery bothered me more than the RNY last year...the pain was TOTALLY different and I could barely tolerate it...thank GOD for happy perkiset pills they help me get to sleep. I have a comfy recliner couch & have been on that for the past few nights...finally slept in my own bed last night...just very uncomfortable when trying to move.
I'm finding I get very winded and exhausted easily where with the RNY I was ready to up & run the next day dispite the discomfort. I'm going to attempt a few hours at work tomorrow...just the exhaustion is what is killing me...I REALLY miss walking & working out...tried to walk my son to school this morning (slowly) & got pooped out after 1/2 block.
My appetite isn't where it should be...forcing myself to eat protein and drink. Hopefully I'll be bouncing back a little more each day. I consider myself a person who can really tolerate pain/discomfort but this time around it really through me off balance...I felt totally overwhelmed on Friday night with the pain.
After I get a full bill of health from this surgery I think I'm going to postphone my TT until October or so...there's no hurry & I really want to make sure I'm ready for it mentally as well as physically. I'm glad I had the hernia (s) done sooner and now can focus on getting myself back into the groove of things.
My hubby has been wonderful and made sure I was taken care of all weekend..even let me watch "chick flicks" LOL..he's a doll.
Hope everyone is doing ok on their end & I'm keeping Linnie & her family in my prayers.
Mickey
Hi Cyndee,
Thank you so much..I'm feeling a little better just the getting tired easily is bugging me. I definately plan on going to the picnic..missed it last year and looking forward to meeting everyone from the boards.
We definately need to hook up! Never did get that coffee in locally. Maybe iced coffees on the beach?
Hugs,
Mic
Hi Micky, Glad you made it thru ok! I definitly agree with you about the Tummy Tuck! Still not sure if I will go thru with it but if I do It will happen in the late fall or winter as since I will be out of commission anyway might as well do it when the weather is cold out
! Take your time healing up and do your best getting your protien in, even if you do woth with drinks if you cannot eat enough. Take care, Julio
Hey Julio!
Love the new picture! I'm feeling a little stronger today. Eating is still a challenge no appetite and nothing is appealing to me...except Dunkin Donut iced coffees LOL.. God bless string cheese it's about the only thing with any protein value that I find is helping with protein intake.
I really wanted to have the TT & hernia done at the same time, but glad I did the hernia now due to how bad it was...it was really aggravating me.
Hope to see you at the picnic...looking forward to meeting everyone on the boards,
Mickey
Hi Mickey - I hope you heal quickly - going under can take a couple of weeks to get back to normal sometimes - it certainly sounds like you were released too soon - but you know you really do heal better at home so it's probably for the better - I bet that ride home really was horrible for you though - those streets in Hartford are very bumpy when you're coming home from the hospital!
Take it as slow as you can and rest when your body tell you to - it will help you heal!!
Best Regards,
Tammy
