Hello All, I was scheduled for surgery on June 12 in Michigan, but my husband has been unfaithful to me and I am going through the worst pain of my life. I have to postpone the surgery and am thinking of having it in CT since I will be home with my parents here. Can you all share with me your surgeon recommendations? Anyone have their surgery in Danbury Hospital? If so, which surgeons have the best reputation? Also, if you have been approved in one state, is it easy to transfer or do you have to go through everything all over again? I would really love to still have my surgery and go on with my plans to improve my life. Any advice is much appreciated. Mousie

I had a thread a few months back about which surgeon's were the best assuming that everyone would say that they had a good one. Almost everyone did. Connecticut had some wonderful surgeons. Mine was Dr Valin out of St Raphiels in New Haven and I would swear by him. Dr. Arranow out of Middlesex hospital is very popular and I have not heard anything bad about him. Dr. Barba from Hartford hospital is another name that I hear a lot and Dr. Bell from Yale also is popular also. There are a lot but these are just some that I know of. I am sure you will hear of more. Good luck Scott

Hi I am so sorry to hear about your troubles but it is good to hear that you put yourself first and take care of yourself. I love Dr Aranow and he is an excellent and gifted skilled doctor who I can trust him to do mine. I had open RNY on Oct 18 2004 and is very happy with my results because I am still using my tools to make mine successful. Please email if you need to ask more questions about Dr Aranow. His office is in Middletown , Ct. Here is his office phone number Dr Jonathan Aranow (860) 347-9167. Good Luck on your researching Also WE are having a big WLS picnic party on June 24th and hope you can be in Ct. by the time and it is an excellent place you will meet all of us who have different doctors in CT. Here is information about our Party coming: Date: Saturday, June 24th Time: 12pm until 8pm Location: Hammonassett State Park, Madison 12 Picnic Tables, 2 Pedestall Grills are available in the Pavilion. We are close to the beach, parking and the restrooms. Picnic Charge is: $10.00 per Family, can be mailed to me or given to us at the welcome table when you arrive (All monies go to the ASBS Foundation) just like our walk and other events. My picnic team is helping me with various items like tablecloths, trashbags, ice, hamburgers, hotdogs, grill supplies, water and papergoods. But the more you help the better it will help us all in the long run. We need everyone to pull together for this. We will have Volleyball, bocce, baseball, soccer, swimming, and music going throughout the whole day. If by chance it does rain, we suggest cards, boardgames , etc. Whatever other things you can think of for activities bring them along to help us out in making this a fun filled day for the kids and the adults. Our raffle will be $1.00 each and (6) for $5.00 all monies will go the ABS Foundation. We do not profit from this personally. We will have various gift items, some people will be making baskets, there will be a handmade quilt made by Kathy K's aunt and whatever else people can donate. I would recommed both our doctors here at St. Francis, Dr. Barba and Dr. Giovanni. Both are fantastic bariatric surgeons (Dr. Barba did my bypass) and because both did my tummy tuck I can speak from experience and say that they do a great tummy tuck too! Jessica

Hi Mousie, I am using Dr. Timothy Ehrlich from St. Vincent's hospital in Bridgeport. He also practices out of Norwalk. His practice Fairfield Bariatrics has 3 great surgeons and a great follow up program. They are all excellent, I just hit it off with Dr. Erlich. Welcome back to CT, I am sorry they are not under better cir****tances. Take care of yourself. I have no idea about having to do everything all over. Keep us posted. Best, Nancy

I had laparoscopic RNY done by Dr. Bell at Yale New Haven. I absolutely give him my highest recommendations. He's very caring, extremely skilled in the laproscopic procedure and has the BEST bedside manner. Sorry to hear about your cheating husband. It's your decision of course, but the fact that he is STILL seeing the other woman while at the same time saying he wants to stay with you would be enough for me to say SEE YA!!!....You are already beautiful and after surgery you're going to be just stunning..... I'm sure other men will be showing you PLENTY of attention. Dont' let your husbands stupid decisions rule your life or slow you down.... get your surgery and move on......just consider him some of that extra weight and lose him. ~Sue

Mousie, Sorry to hear about your husband's choice, but very glad to hear about your decision to get the band or RNY done. Which one are you having done? I am currently seeing Dr. Neil Floch from Fairfield Bariatrics. They seem very nice and I am currently in the "insurance waiting for approval" process. Two of my friends had Dr. Tim Urhrich do their lapbands and they are very pleased. Another friend had open RNY with Dr. Valin at St. Raphels in New Haven and she swears by his work. (She's lost lots of weight and had some enhancement surgeries as well). Please visit this website http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi6070_sa.html when you have a chance. It's not for him, but for you and if you choose, you and him. I found this website on another board and kept 'cause you never know when you or someone you know could use it. Let us know how things are going - best of all to you.....
