Suggestions for Protein Drinks/Powder
Hi Carol -
Good luck on the protein diet. Try to stick to dense proteins to keep you full longer - meats, eggs, beans, etc...
If you want an occasional shake you have to do a trial and error because everyone's tastes are so different.
One of the highest protein drinks is the IsoPure Zero Carb drinks in glass bottles. My personal faves - Apple Melon, Blue Raspberry, and Alpine punch.
I also like Myoplex Carb Sense Ready to drink shakes, a supermarket version of this shake is marketed by EAS under the name Advantedge, slightly less protein but a *****eaper.
To add protein to any foods that need a boost you can try a product called 'Any Whey' which is a tasteless protein powder that mixes well in foods.
Take care and good luck!
Carla
Hi-
Sorry for sounding so vague. I have one visit left with Liz and my paper work will be submitted next week to my insurance company.
My gall bladder is a problem right now. I saw Dr. A. Tuesday -was sent there from my primary md because of my symptoms--and he wants me on a 60 gram a day all protein virtually no carb low fat diet consisting of protein shakes and powders . He wants me to get some more weight off before the surgery and also to calm my gall bladder and liver down prior to the WLS when he will also be taking care of the gall bladder.

Okay you have a bad gallbladder- here's the deal
you MUST avoid fats- spicy foods, and raw roughage- these things will set it off- you DO NOT want any gallbladder attacks- the last thing you need is that
I suggest you go out and get a George Forman grill- you can use it to grill up low fat things suck as fat free hot dogs, chicken (skinless boneless chicken breast) and white fish (Salmon may set you off as will swordfish) Turkey burgers should be okay too- as long as the ground turkey is breast meat- look at the package details. Trust nothing you haven't made yourself or don't have the nutrition facts on.
As for drinks with summer here- you may not tolerate milky ones as well- try going to GNC and get some ISOPURE- they come in flavors like Kool Aid and are pretty flavoless in its protein- not bad at all and there is 40 grams in a bottle.
Watch the fat content on some of the supplements- I was extremely sensitive when I had gallstones ( I was pregnant with my third child and had to carry him to term before we could get rid of the gall bladder) I could do no more than 5 grams of fat in a meal without a problem- and speaking of meals- small frequent meals versus 3 big ones. This is the last time in your life you will hear this- graze versus eat a full meal at a time- have three small meals and two snacks instead. Use half an Ispopure as a snack, get low fat or fat free items that are high in protein- like some nice sliced chicken breast or lean ham, and roll it up with some fat free cheese. Nice snack. Drink fluids with your meals- to help fill you up- and keep your fluid intake up - it will help keep away dehydration which could cause an attack. Good luck with all this . When do you see LIz Archambault? You are in superior hands with Dr Aranow- he will take care of you. Trust him and do everything he says totally.
