Any interest in a Regional Conference in Central NY??

Hi all, I was at the East Coast Conference in Pittsburgh...it was great. I spoke with some people about a regional conference taking place in Central NY ( Syracuse ). I need to know if anyone would be willing to attend if a conference could be arranged. Syracuse is located in Central NY. I know for some the distance may be prohibitive, but we need to put out the "feelers" so to speak. Distances are approximate: From: Hartford, CT 254 miles From: Rutland, VT 214 miles (Our son went to Green Mountain College in Pultney) From: Montpelier, VT 280 miles From: Burlington, VT 261 miles From: NYC 247 miles From: Buffalo 150 miles From: Binghamton 73 miles From: Albany 144 miles From: Massena 161 miles From: Watertown 70 miles From: Rochester 87 miles From: Scranton, PA 130 miles I would need to try to get at least 100 people who would be willing to attend in order to pursue this further. I am going to check all of the support groups in our area, and it would be great if you could check with yours. Syracuse is a beautiful city with wonderful facilities to hold such an important event. I would certainly consider it. But upstate NY...well, it's an awfully LONG drive, and it's not a fun drive if there's ANY weather at all. So, it would really depend on time of the year and weather conditions. Is there no possiblity of considering a central location for all states? Something in New England?

Hi Lisa, I sure know what you mean about the long drive. My sister and I just attended the one in Pittsburgh and it was an 8 hour drive for us. Would I do it again...you bet, in a heartbeat. We would certainly keep the weather conditions as a factor if this happens, and we are thinking maybe sometime next spring as a possibility. Right now we have to try to see if there's enough interest in a Regional Conference to present it to the Event Staff at OH. Thank you for your interest and we will keep you posted. Hello Debra, I would certainly consider it if it was in NY. It is quite a hall for us to drive to Syracuse, but if that is the closest you can have a conference we could try to get enough of us here from CT to go. Let us know how your plans go. Thanks KimC

Just wanted to wish you good luck Debra. I went to the Regional Conference in the Meadowlands last year and it was NOT well attended. That was much closer to CT than what you are proposing now so I'm wishing you well on the endeavor. I thought it was great fun and had a lot of great information. All my best back, Carla
