Hi, All! This coming Mon., 5/15, is the 3rd Mon. of the month, so there will be support group meetings at both Middlesex Hospital in Middletown (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.) and at the Senior Center in Hamden (6:30 - 8 p.m.). Both meetings are for both pre- and post-ops. Most attendees at the Middlesex meeting are patients of Dr. Aranow, but anyone is welcome. The meeting consists of general discussion, questions and answers. The Hamden group meets at the Senior Center (behind the Miller Library on Dixwell Ave.). It isn't affiliated with any doctor or hospital and is run by a couple of post-ops. The meeting will consist of general discussion, questions and answers. Anyone is welcome to attend. I'll be at the Middlesex meeting, not because it's better than the Hamden meeting, but because after the meeting, a number of us usually go to dinner, so I get more support from the evening than I do in Hamden, even though Hamden's meeting is a half hour longer. Anyone who's interested (pre- or post-op) is welcome to join us. And if you'd rather eat dinner before, the restaurants we go to don't mind if you just have something to drink. The point of going out isn't the food, it's the additional support and the opportunity to get to know each other better. As a pre-op I found it helpful to see how post-ops at various stages out from surgery handled eating in a restaurant. It reassured me that life could still be normal after WLS, albeit a new version of "normal". If you need directions to either meeting, pls. e-mail me. Have a good weekend (and try to stay dry), Debby
