Topic: RE: Trying to find a therapist/psychologist familiar with WLS
I know the psych eval I had done was from someone who actually had RNY herself. I can't remember her name, but she is in the springs. So that might be quite a drive for you - though maybe contacting the office she might have recommendations for you - PM me if you want that info
Topic: RE: New to CO Board, Support Group (having a DS)
I only know about the colorado springs group - many are RNY'rs and Lap banders. However - I think we all have struggles that are similar and can be very supportive to one another. Each surgery has some different things in dealing immediately post op, but its the long term post op - and dealing with nutrition that makes us all more equal.
I see that your in Aurora so the Springs might not work well for you. But if your interested in more info about it, here's the website www.phlwls.com

Topic: RE: Still would love your help!!!!
Hi! well, I'm not in the Colorado Springs area...so, I don't know of any meetings. However, the surgeon I used at Skyridge, Dr.Chae, does have support group meetings right there in that hospital. I think it would be a bout a 45 minute drive...approximately for her. I haven't gone to the meetings in SOOOO long. But, they were great the ones I did attend. The meetings are about 45 minutes from my house too...but, I live north of Skyridge, while your friend lives south. So, it could be a good meetup point for the both of us. I'm a full time student currently and a FT photographer with my business. So, I'm horrible about phone calls right now. But, I'd love to try. How about this, give her my number 720-319-7441 and when/if she wants, she can give me a ring. I hate to say that I'm crazy busy, so she may have to leave me a message, but I'll return her call as soon as possible. I love text messages too if she's so inclined.
Also, tell her to contact BARBARA DAMON ([email protected]. She's the lady that organizes the meetings and she sends out a monthly email telling about all the surgeons nearby that offer meetings (including the ones at Skyridge). She can get on their email list and then get the monthly letters. However, if I recall you said she isn't able to get on the computer much due to her family. But, I think she really needs to make it a point to have her time at the computer too because it's critical to her success with her surgery.
anyway, lemme know what you think.
all the best,
Heather

Topic: New to CO Board, Support Group (having a DS)
Hey All,
I am new to the Colorado board and just decided to pursue a DS rather than a RNY. I have already completed my Psych eval and a nutrition class but may have to do the Nutrition class over since I switched surgeries. Just wondering if there are any locals that had a DS.
If not, for those of you that attend local support groups do you think it would be beneficial for a DSer? I have never been to a Support Group yet and was just wondering. We are all working towards the same goal I am just doing it a little differently.
Thanks for any help, Kj

I am actually looking for the same thing. Didn't have a good experience with my Psych Eval Therapist. It would be nice to find someone to talk to.
(Sorry I am of no help!)

Topic: RE: Possibly moving from NY to Denver area...
I had my RNY in Denver, but live closer to the Springs. If I were you, I would check out some of the WLS surgeons and call their staff. Those guys know EVERYTHING!! I had Dr. Schoen and his staff is just super.
Topic: RE: Any Ft Cartson WLS people here?
No, I had had mine at Penrose with Dr. Fedorak. He was great!
