Topic: Ft.Carson surgery, any insights?
Hi all! I am having GB surgery on dec. 11th at ft. carson. Dr. Imlay is my surgeon. has anyone lese had him or had surgery at Ft. Carson? i havent been told about any special diets or anythin pre- surgery, but i know of others who have had the same surgery that did not get them either. i guess i am just curious as to what to expect at a "military" hospital. thanks for any info you can give!

I don't think I would have felt like going on a vacation that soon after surgery. It took me a few weeks to feel like myself again and it takes awhile to get used to the types of foods you can and cant eat.
If it was me, I would wait on the surgery or the vacation.

I had hesitation from my husband until right before surgery. LOL If you are like me you will not get your drain out for 10 days, so you won't want to go in the ocean. You will be feeling pretty good by then, but the wound from the drain will still be sore I would think. Other people may have had a different experience. If it were me, I'd wait till after the vacation for the surgery or postpone the vacation for a couple of weeks if you can.

I am scedualed for suger on the 13 of december 2007and am off to mexico for a seven day vacation on 1.2.08. I really am excited to get this done and going but am getting hesitation from my husband. For those of you who have had the surgery laperscopicly what do you think.
