Topic: RE: Dr. Michael Snyder
Hello Everyone-
I'm new to this site and I'm currently looking into having Dr. Snyder do my RNY surgery. It pains me to hear about the recent lack of follow-up care and lack of staff support. What I'm wondering though is, I thought that surgeon experience was the most important thing when looking for a doctor to perform major surgery? I just attended Dr. Snyder's February seminar in Denver and he claims to be the most experienced beariatric surgeon in the region as well as having a consistent staff that "has it down"... meaning his team has the shortest on table time of any surgeon in the area and others come from all over the country to see his team work... blah... blah... blah. I'd sure like your expert opinions as I noticed that some here have a lot of experience in medicine. Thanks for your help.

Topic: Thoughts for a new Support Group
Hello,
I am a Lap Band Bariatric Patient and having much trouble finding a support group that fits my schedule. I am thinking of starting up a group of my own. Please note- I am not a certified gorup leader. I am simple looking to start a support group available to anyone for great support and to help myself stay on track. Support groups help alot, hold me accountable for my actions. Even a small group can be helpful. Location is up in the air- We can determine that when we figure out where everyone is located. I am located In Green Valley Ranch near the airport, but can travel too. I am thinking maybe a few times a month (possible Saturday) with a discussion topic every meeting and open discussion at the end of each group meeting. We can do a dinner class, receip exchanges, excersice exchanges, talk about whats happening in the weight loss world. We can also do guest speakers, trainers etc. The possibilities are endless. I have not found a group that offers all this. If you are open and willing to try a group let me know and well see if we can't get the jump started.
Good Luck to all with your journey!
Hope to talk to you soon.

Topic: RE: Questions about the six months dieting prior to surgery
monthly doctor visits recording weight, bmi, doctor's recommendation of diet and excercise. That was the documentation i needed for the six months diet, though not with cigna but it was what was refered for me. Seems like a long time but it will go quick. I had to have it done before meeting with the surgeon so when I was at month 4 I had my surgical appointment scheduled, by the time I got the other evals done, i was at the six month mark. GOod luck
Topic: Littleton Support Group happenings tonight.....
We had such a good time in our “NIA" Class tonight!
Our guest was Colleen Renner and she came in to teach us the technique/form of Nia.
This class reminded me of a combination of Aerobics and Interpretive Dance. It was fun! We had a few laughs about our ability to bend and twist and follow directions.
REMEMBER….. We have chosen to attend a 5K on April 9th in Colorado Springs. So if and when any of you are training for this….walking/hiking/running and need someone to train with you – Email me and I will send out an email to everyone as to your whereabouts!
We missed you at class! (Group)
Our next meeting is March 9th (Wednesday) and will be a sit-down and chat meeting.

Just started it up since I couldn't find anything at all in this area for this kind of thing. I know I have stuff I'm quickly getting too small to wear and am sure there's others out there like me!

I second Dr. Metz. He is readily available via email, returns calls quickly (unless he's in surgery which is on Tuesdays). I live in Wheat Ridge and it was a toss up between Dr. Metz who could get me in right away (my RNY was 12/14) or Dr. Snyder who couldn't see me for another 4-6 months. Like Troy, I've worked in medical for some time and was totally impressed....
Topic: RE: Non WLS question !!!
I think you'd be safe with a food budget for them of $50.00 per day per kid. I realize that is expensive! But if they are not planning to make any of their own meals, realistically you're looking at $10-$15 for breakfast, 10-20 for lunch and 15-25 for dinner per person/per meal.
I hope they have a great time. Colorado is pricey for food - you are right. Especially the ski resort areas.

Thank you. The staff does leave something to be desired. Amanda is great but I think you made the right decision to go elsewhere because the follow-up care has fallen behind so badly. I looked into Dr. Metz but I live in Thornton so it is a very long drive, however I will not rule him out since it is worth a lot to have someone with first-hand knowledge make a recommendation. Good care is worth the travel. Thank you and best of luck!
