Hi!  I live in Lakewood but Longmont is my hometown.  I was banded by Dr. Chae on te 18th of Dec.  He's a very good surgeon.  I have Kaiser and had the operation done at St. Josephs.  So far I've lost 12 lbs......Woo Hooo!!!

This could be true, however Out of Pocket Max only includes certain types of visits, this may or may not include WLS.  Since WLS is more of an elective surgery (at least by insurance standards) it may not fall under the Out of Pocket Max benefit.  If you have  your EOC (contract that is sent to you about a month or so after open enrollment is done)  It should detail this information for you.  I hope this helps. I had heard that Kaiser can only charge you whatever your out of pocket max is but I have also heard that is not true. Does anyone have Kaiser that has already had thier surgery verify what they ended up having to pay. My surgery is in May and want to be prepared. Thanks,

I too, am in Longmont!  I had my surgery in Feb 2003!  :-) yeah, it's been a while...but, omg I would do it over and over and over again if i had to!  Nope.. once was actually enough for me to give me the 2nd chance I needed.  I will never let myself get back to even close to where i once was.  I would love to keep in touch with you...and anyone else in the longmont area...  Luck to you... You will absolutely love your new life... you deserve it! Laxi

Topic: 20 lbs in 11 days!!!
I posted this on the main board but thought I would post for all my Coloradan buddies here.   I am now down 20 lbs in 11 days, including the 3 day liquid diet pre-op.  I had surgery 12-17-07 and am down 9 lbs from that date, yay.   All the damn jell-o and broth in the world cannot bring me down from this happy moment (by the way, I cannot stand another bite of jell-o or broth, blah).  I am on to protein shakes and milk and creamy soup.  Prime Rib Christmas dinner was soooo damn hard to resist, but I did, for the most part.  (One tiny little bite of rib meat chewed excessively well and I was happy).  I am finally happy to be on the losers side.  Hope you all are having a great Christmas and the most wonderful New Year.

Hello Neighbor.  I'm in Longmont so not too far away from you.  Dr. Chae did my lap RNY on 10/30/07 and he was wonderful.   You are in very good hands with him.I have Kaiser insurance so my surgery was done at St. Joseph's in Denver.  I had to do a clear liquid diet 3 days prior to surgery, but it wasn't bad at all.  The first six weeks after surgery were pretty easy for me, but then I hit a little road bump with constipation and never realized how painful that could be.  That has been resolved and I'm back to feeling good again.  Congratulations on your surgery.  Check back and let us know how you are doing!

Congratulations!  Today I can't eat anything other than clear liquid stuff.  At 5pm & 6pm I had to take a dose of phospho soda (you have to try to clear your intestines as much as possible before the surgery).  it's unpleasant, but still worth it I think.  Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.  Kind of a bland day.  I will admit I am already missing food a bit.  Nothing major and I'm by no means complaining.  It's just kind of sad a little bit....saying goodbye to an old friend.   Please keep in touch and let me know how it goes for you. I will try to keep posting my progress too.
