Topic: insurance after WLS.

Penrose support group on Jan 11 at 6:30pm will have a special speaker on how to reduce your current insurance rates for life insurance, and how to get life insurance after WLS.  For most WLS patients, they could currently have life insurance, but are paying extra fees because of  your past co-morbitities.  There are insurance companies that will rewrite your policies at a reduced rate.  We also will be talking at long term carry insurance after WLS.  for more information please call 719-661-6404.  Other insurance questions will be answered also Steve

My surgeon's office provided my supervised diet.  I used Dr. Micheal Johnell.  (Greeley but I know he has office in Lafayette too) You might not want to travel but they were excellent and they know how to document things exactly like the insurance company wants them.  I  had to have appeal with my insurance and handled all that for me too.   Good Luck, MileHIgh

I used Dr. Micheal Johnell with North Colorado Medical Center.  He and hospital were both wonderful.  I know he is center of excellence.  A friend of mine used Dr. Snyder at Rose and she was very happy with her experience.   Good Luck!

My PCP was extremely supportive during the process, and afterwards as well. He is in Littleton...so not sure if that's too far for you. His name is Dr. Paul Sundae with Lakeview Family Medicine. I've been going to him for awhile and have found him sincere and encouraging!!

Contact a member by the name of annetterust, she is who made my century card.  She tends to make lots of them on the weekends when she has time, she just needs to know who to make it for.

Hi everyone,

I really want one of those kewl century club cards.  Does anyone have any idea of how to get one?  Also I would LOVE to update my page so it can be nice like everyone else's.  Any suggestions and/or offers?  I appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks!

He did my GB surgery in 2004 and did a fantastic job. He also did my Gallbladder and apendex surgery about 1 year later all by lap. His staff is also great I loved working with Kelly his nutritionist. Congrats on looking into the surgery you could not be in better hands than his. Leslie

Topic: RE: Kaiser co-payment HELP!
I have a Kaiser plan through my husband's employer (Lockheed-Martin).  I paid out $600 to the doc who put me under (can't spell anistesiologist LOL!) and am working on paying out about $5000 to Penrose hospital.  I think I also paid about $1000 or so to the assistant surgeon.  In any case, Penrose has me on a 2-year payment plan, no interest.  I believe my plan is an 80/20 plan.

I am in Colorado Springs so can not help with the PCP issue, but wanted you to know that even though my PCP was very supportive, he referred me out for the 6 month supervised diet.  He felt it would be better to have someone who did that on a regular basis follow me.  It must have worked, as I had my last visit on 2/15, and was approved for surgery on 3/12...I had my surgery on 5/30/07.
