I was banded three and a half years ago. Though you do have to go back to the doctor on a regular basis for fills, I found I often wasn't going for the stomach as much as I was going for my mind!! Checking in with someone was definitely a positive thing for me.
I have known a number of bypass patients that simply out eat their surgery after the first year. What I discovered was that they still have to deal with hunger, where as with the band, that element is nearly removed from my day to day life.
It is most important that you discuss your options with your surgeon and find out what is best for you. It varies for everyone...best of luck to you!!!

Anyone in Greeley area needing someone to walk with? work out? motivate?
I have not been able to have WLS surgery due to insurance not covering it, but would like to start being more active.
Any takers?

Topic: Hello everyone!
Hello everyone, I'm "the new guy," as indicated by the message above this post as I type advising me that a moderator will have to approve my post!! Anyhow, I've just had surgery on March 24th, and I'm looking forward to being able to come here with questions, and being able to share what I'm going through with others. I've put some wall of text on my blog thing, and am looking forward to starting to maintain that just as an outlet of sort. Hope to meet some great people, and learn some amazing things from you all!
Thanks!
Rich
P.S. I can't figure out how to condense my file size to where it will allow me to upload my photo as an avatar. Any thoughts?

Topic: RE: Dr. Johnell from Greely
Dr. Johnell performed my lapband surgery in March 2010. He and his entire staff are wonderful, and I highly recommend them.
Please let me know if you need any information about their information sessions or anything else -

Hi everyone!!
I am Julie, nice to meet all of you. I just sent all the paper work back today. I am conflicted between the gastric band and the gastric bypass. Which one works better in the long run? This will be my next decison. What advice can you give me on the whole process? how long between my first appointment and the actual surgery?

Topic: RE: colorado mediciaid...how does it work?
Talk to the insurance corrdinator with your surgeons office. S/He knows how the system works and the hoops required jumping through. Might be better than contacting medicaid directly.
