Topic: RE: Surgery in 16 days...What do I need before I go?
Thanks Lori.
Were ya pretty busy while you were in the hospital or pretty sore lol, I'm just trying to figure out what to expect. I'm coming down this weekend for all the pre-op stuff, the meeting with Dr. Chae and my nutrition class with Kelly on Sunday. Is there anything fun to do there on a Saturday? LOL
I'll be staying with my Uncle in Colorado Springs for those 3 days... I'm not used to so many people... Sheltered life I live and all lol.
Thanks bunches

Hi Frankie! I had the RNY with Dr Chae and you won't really need anything for the the first week or so. You don't start supplements until then. I would guess that you will be discharged in a couple days and free to go home. He is a great Dr and will tell you everything you need to know and will give you his personal cell number if you have any questions. As for the hospital I didn't need anything except maybe chapstick I totally overpacked and didn't use 98% of what I brought.
Good Luck and prayers
Lori

I can some what relate. I did go with Lapband and had my surgery on Tuesday but waited to tell most people until the day before my surgery. My grandma told me "why do you think this is going to be any different? You can't even stick to Weigh****chers." I think people who haven't struggled with their weight don't really understand! That's why you have all of us here on this site.
Topic: RE: Does anyone work for the state and have Greatweast healthcare?
Shasta, I have greatwest through my school district. I have had no issues with them paying for anything. I would suggest that you go on line to mygreatwest.com, and look at your mothers policy book. She will have to register online, but that is where I was able to see my entire policy manual and was prepared for what I had to do. I also know that the surgeons office said I had to have 6 months medically supervised diet, and having comorbidities helped. Good luck to your mother.

I just have to say.... I have told my friends and relatives that I am getting the RNY gastric Bypass.... OMG!!! First of all... I am paying for it myself... No Insurance... Please keep that in mind...
Everyone I talked to today said stuff like this:
1) You know... You are still going to have to exercise and watch what you eat and blah blah blah...
2) You really should have gone with the lap band... blah blah blah...
Why would they think that I haven't done my homework???? I have been thinking about this surgery for frickin ever!!! They can't be serious.... OMG!!!!!!!
Anyhow, I just had to vent. I can't believe what morons I hang with lol

Now I don't feel so very jealous. I was thinking about those 100 degree days last summer and I assumed that you guys were already in the 60-70's and I'd kill for that now. Check out my blog to see what our "Spring" is like and you'll feel better!
