I agree with Lori....  You will be pretty drugged up.  Kelly and Dr Chae will give you tons of information.  They are the greatest.

Hi everyone:

FWIW...Just today I thought that I should've brought along my portable computerized "Wheel Of Fortune" game but I'm kinda glad I didn't because my problem WAS NOT going to sleep during my stay at P/SL (Where I had my lap band done). My problem was STAYING AWAKE.

As such, it was probably a good thing that I *didn't* bring it because chances are I probably wouldn't have been able to concentrate anyway and would probably lose EVERY round.

Again JFWIW...

Cheers :D

Hi everyone:

Woud you mind if I embedded the video on my blog and linked back to the permalink on yours?

If you'd rather that I only link to your permalink instead, I'll of course respect that.

I took the line out on saturday, as instructed, still no pain. No nausea, but I was given patches for nausea just in case. I bought sample packs of protein drinks to see which one I like and so far I don't like any.  They are either too chalky or it leaves an after taste. I've been getting most of my protein by drinking carnation instant breakfast several times a day. I have to force myself to drink water. I'm not thirsty. Is this normal?  Can anyone suggest a chocolate protein drink that doesn't taste chalky or leave an after taste? I have been very cold lately! I used to always be hot! Is this normal or is my body in need of something that I'm not doing? I started walking on my treadmill the very next day. It needed a little oiling because it had only been used to hang clothes on for so long, but after a few steps, it stopped crying. I am back at work today! I used to be an avid Pepsi drinker. I stopped drinking pop about 1 month ago, but as soon as I walked in the office and sat at my desk, I wanted a Pepsi. I'm not going to have one though. Anyone experience anything like this before?
Hi everyone:

I had the lap band too on March 6th at P/SL & I can personally tell you that not being thirsty is normal HOWEVER come this summer, we WILL undoubtedly be drinking PLENTY of the Aquafina as the hot temperatures will force us to do so.

Since you're only five days out, I assume you're still on the pureed stuff. As such, have you tried any of the protein whey powders out there? Wal-Mart & (Supposedly) Walgreens sells it in their stores (I'm also told that Walgreens only sells it only via their website too) & there are plenty of places online where you can get it (I'm sure OH has a few links you might try checking out).

Another source would be your nutritionalist (You DO see one, do you?) as they would know pretty much all the ins and outs, nuts and bolts of nutritious products because it's what they get paid for.

Hope this helps! :D

Cheers :D

....And I'm just a wee bit nervous (Okay, I'm lying. I'm REALLY nervous!).

I say this because I wonder just how they're gonna find the port hole. You can't even see it. The folks at CBSI will probably have to do an ultrasound JUST TO FIND IT!!

And then comes THE DREADED NEEDLE!! *ARGH!*

I can't stand a tremendous amount of pain (I'm thick blooded).

I called them up yesterday to ask if I needed to be on some sort of diet for the occasion, but Cheryl said all I need to do is just count on eating lightly (Which is pretty much what I have been doing all along) all day tomorrow, so no problems there.

But suffice to say, tomorrow is not really a day I'm looking forward to (At least not until I know what's involved in the process).

Cheers :D

Thanks Mia, Did you investigate other surgeons before selecting Dr. Snyder?  What was your defining factor that lead you to choosing Dr. Snyder? Unlike other areas of life such as home repair or other maintenance, I cannot go with previous experience or closing my eyes and pointing to a service professional out of the yellow pages in selecting a WLS surgeon.  My only requirements are professionalism, pre & post care (especially post), and my life (certainly do not want to die from the surgery).  A doctor who is a crabby individual, but has top credentials and an amazing track record of successful WLS patient weight loss results (and post-op care), is one I would choose over another surgeon who have great credentials and even an above-average post-op success rate (and care). Bottom line, I am looking for why did you chose Dr. Snyder, not what your experience was after you made the choice.

I was banded 10 days ago 4/10/08) by Dr. Michael Snyder of Denver (denverbariatrics.com). I cannot begin to say enough about him or his staff. I feel like I can do an infomercial for him. I was a big chicken about having this done (huge needle phobia!!!) He took my fears seriously and took the time to really listen to my concerns and talked me through each and every one of them. I have never known any doctor who has ever treated me with the dignity and respect that Dr. Snyder has. It starts the moment you arrive in his office, he personally comes out to the waiting room and brings you back to the exam room to speak with you. He never looks at the clock and takes all the time in the world with you. I feel so fortunate to be in his care and am positive that I could not be in more capable hands.

You are smart to take your time and really search out who is best for you, afterall, they will be treating you for the rest of your life, so a strong connection is essential. I hope this helps and good luck with your search.
