Thanks Fred!  I called today to get the drain out now instead of Wed when I have my 1 wk follow-up, because it's starting to look weird & I'm worried about infection.  Still waiting to hear back.  I know some dr's take it out before you leave, but I actually had a lot of fluid the first few days.  Not sure where that goes in patients who don't have a drain?

Anyway, I also met w/Dr. Metz & he was great.  I hope you're able to get the surgery when you want it.  Thanks for the advice.  Today is my first day alone w/my 3 kids (DH took last week off but had to go back to work), so I'm certainly getting all the walking part down!  Talk to you soon!

(((Hugs back)))

First thing to check is if her specific policy covers WLS.  Each employer decides what will be covered and what will be excluded.  I would just call them and ask if it's covered and if so what hte requirements are.

Glad to see you made it OK Angel, maybe just a little surprised they didn't remove the drain before discharging you.

Looking forward to getting sleeved, possibly in September.

Sip,sip,sip, walk,walk,walk, rest,rest,rest.

HI!  I don't get on this board very often, but I wanted to check in because I don't think there are alot of sleevesters on here.  I had a VSG on Mon afternoon w/Dr. Schoen at University Med Center (the new one off Colfax & I225).  It all went very well, and I went home the next afternoon.  I still have a drain (which is a pain in the ass), but other than that I'm feeling a little better every day.  I love having OH to discuss my WLS w/others in the same boat.  I also wanted to say hi & send best wishes to any other Coloradans who might be having surgery, any type, this week!  Hope you're all safe & doing well!! *Angel

Hello, I had my surgery in February. I have BCBS too. They were really easy to work with. It took no time to get an approval. The 6 months isn't required. It's only suggested. I had my surgery at Rose Medical with Dr. Snyder in Denver. As long as she has a record of trying to loose weight is just fine. Just have her make a list of the different diets she's tried. It was easy and painless.  Maria

just looked back at this post. thought I would enlighten as to what the issue was. I waited another day or two thinking it was just healing. Next thing I know my whole where the RNY was done was spewing disgustingness all over the place. Insicion site infection. A few antibiotics later I got to rejoin the world of upright walking humans!

Good luck with United Healtcare, that's who I had too.  I had to go self pay, they refused to cover it.  But I hear lots of people have good luck with them.  I think mine had to do with the employer excluding bariatric surgery.
