Hi!My name is kelley. I am 31 yrs old and have an appt with dr schneider 5.10.06. My bmi is 37.9 but I have lots of health issues relating to my weight. Weightloss has never been a friend of mine. So, I am to the point in my life where I have had enough. My insurance will not cover this procedure so I will be self pay! Fun fun. But it will be worth it. What all can I expect?

Hello, I just wanted to suggest that you also post to the lapband forum where many lapbanders post daily and you'll likely get a lot of responses to this question. You can find it by clicking on the forums tab up top the page and then choose from the surgery types listed there. Hope this helps and good luck with your endeavors! ~Toots

Hi Kelley: My name is Sheila and I too am getting the lap-band from Dr. Paul Snyder. I had my appointment the end of April and he said that I was good to go - well, weight-wise. My insurance pays for mine too, but there is a lot of work to do to get to the surgery point. I'm 35 and 220 pounds so my bmi is below the required 40 - and I have extra cir****tances too. Check out websites and do your research...we can do this!

I am seeking lapband with snyder, too. I live on the western slope, so I will give him a call to set up appointment, see how much of it I can do here. I am self pay too (saving now, selling off stuff...begging) I think its worth it. The longer I am on these boards (particularly the lap band one) the more I realize that I need to be healthier to get a life. i tried to get insurance (still trying) but the cost -because I am overweight---is 400 a month. Not really do-able for me and my daughter. I want to be able to breathe. Go to my profile to see all the reasons I want to do this, see if you relate. I think the band is the safest smartest choice.
