Moving to Colorado
Hi Everyone
DH took an offer at Intel in Colorado Springs and he starts work on the 16th of Jan. We will be flying maybe on the 3rd for 5days to look for a house.
We have never been to Colorado, but hear it's beautiful. We are originally from New Jersey, but moved to Kissimmee, Florida 21 years ago.
I can't believe I'm leaving my children, grandchildren, friends, church and support group. I know God is in control and will take care of all our needs.
My questions are to those who live in the Colorado Springs area.
I'm in need of a good support group and a Surgeon. Also intrested in OA meetings and any Celebrate Recovery meetings.
All info will be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to meeting some of you!
Your Gastric Buddy,
Jeannie
Welcome to our state! I live clear over against the Utah border but my sister and brother live in the Springs. Make sure you dress in layers when you come out. When it is sunny (which is often) it will feel warm but the second that sun goes behind a cloud or begins to set brrrrr. The air will feel very different. Make sure you bring lotion and lip balm with you or else you will be picking them up right after you arrive. Our air is dry here.
I don't know about support groups in the Springs. I know a few people from the Springs go to support groups in Denver run by Kelly Elliot the nutritionist for several of the really good bariatric surgeons.
Good luck with your move.
Didi
Thank you Didi for the Welcome.
Someone else just warned me about bringing lip balm and moisturizer.
I have been buying some real warm clothing. Even though we do get some cold weather here in Florida, it pales in comparrison to Colorado's cold I'm sure. When I lived in New Jersey, I remember having to layer. I'm coming prepared, but will surely have to adjust.
Paola from the Springs told me of a good support group. I'm looking forward to meeting new people.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Welcome ot Colorado! I used to live in Colorado Springs but now live about 45 miles south in Pueblo. There is a good support group here in Pueblo. I know of a group in the Springs sponsored by the group who performed my surgery. The problem is that it just got way to big. There were sometimes over 50 people there and many of them were still fighting with insurance companies. My Dr. was Scott Fisher. Good guy...very supportive. Looking forward to perhaps meeting you in person sometime. Stay in touch. Charlie
Sorry Charlie
You are totally wrong on who supports our support group. The surgeons in the springs who perform the operations have NO say so in our meetings. We hold the meetings at Penrose but they do not tells us what to do, or how to do it. In fact they actually listen to our suggestions. The only thing u got correct is the number of ppl that attend. For your information, we have over 130 ppl on our roster.
Welcome, Welcome,
I am also a transplant from a coastal state. I am from California. Colorado is a great place but it does take getting used to. You are not coming during the best months unless you like to ski. I run a support group in Longmont Colorado (not near the springs) for my doctor .. Dr. Snyder. He has support groups all over the state now and they keep adding new ones so check his site
" denverbariatrics.com " for the most updated news on the support groups. All patients are welcome!

I am jealous. I would love to return to Colorado. I am an Army brat, that was one of the best places to grow up.
Denver itself has changed A LOT. (Not the town of my youth, as I remember it).
But Colorado is a wonderful place. I think you'll Coloradeo Sprgs.
Living in Maryland now, hoping to return west one day, (before I die).
God bless you and good luck!
