medicaid blues

I worked hard all my life as a nurses aide and raised 2 kids on my own after my husband left. I never thought at this stage in my life I would be in this position, but I am trying to find a doc who will do wls and accept medicaid insurance. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, low thyroid function and weight bearing arthritis, not to mention depression due to my declining health. I have found 2 docs who will take medicaid, and even tho they are in Greeley which is an enormous trip, I am working with them. The problem is there is a 16 month waiting list for an initial consult. 16 months. I've been hitting my head against this brick wall for over 5 yrs and my PCP says I won't live another 5 yrs w/o the surgery, so I feel like time is running out. Still, I can't help but get my hopes up once again. Anyone out there who would consider praying for me, I could sure use it, and seriously covet your prayers. Janet Wyckoff [email protected]

I would contact Northern Colorado Surgical Associates. I have Medicaid and have been on the waiting list since early October. I was told someone should be calling me within the next week or two to set up my consult appt. for July. They schedule surgery 4-6 weeks after consult for surgery. So I have been waiting 9 months. It's better than 16 months. Who in Greeley would you see? The only Doc in Greeley I know of is Dr. Johnell who doesn't accept Medicaid. I don't think NCSA accepts Colorado Access. Only the PCP prefered physician program is accepted I believe, it could have changed. I am hoping for Dr. Dickenson, he or Dr. Pettine. I had to have a small cyst removed under my arm years ago by Dr. Quaid and I didn't think it was a great job. Hope this info helps. Also what city do you live in? I live in Fort Collins and we have a monthly support group meeting the last Monday of the month at 6-8 pm at Poudre Valley Hospital in the basement behind the cafeteria. Ask someone there if you get there and can't find it. You should come. Also if in Fort Collins and on Medicaid you can get help for your depression at Larimer Center for Mental Health for free!!! I am getting the help I need because I too suffer from depression and it's free!! Come to a meeting and look for me- my name is Tiffany Good Luck! Hope I can help.
