Hi everyone, My family and I will be moving to Colorado within the next year. We will be in Colorado Springs in October for 7-9 days to visit the area. We used to live there back in 1989-1991 while my husband was stationed at Ft. Carson and we fell in love with the area! Our dream has always been to return. We plan to visit the Springs and also travel up beyond Denver to look around as well. I am sure the Springs has changed ALOT since we were there! I can only imagine and can not wait to see it. What are the best areas to live in ? Elementary schools? I will be graduating with my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in December and will be looking for a job there. I have a background in healthcare (insurance) and am interested in possibly pursuing something within the management- hospital/healthcare- bariatric field. Any tips let me know! I look forward to meeting many of you in the area as well. What can you tell me about support groups, doc's , nutritionists etc? I attend a small support group here now. My surgeon's office is an hour and a half drive for me. So, please post and fill me in!!! Oh, and it will take time for me to loose my southern accent so be patient! LOL Tracy (lost 135lbs so far!!!)

Hi Tracy! How great for you moving here. I, of course, think the Rocky Mountain West is the best place in the whole wide world to live. I'm afraid I don't know anything at all about the Springs, I'm up in Aurora. There are lots of really good school districts around the Denver area, you just have to look and be choosy. Anyway, congratulations, and welcome home

I just moved to Colorado Springs, and I live in the Briargate area. We love it! We homeschool our kids, but I hear that Briargate has the best schools as well. My husband works for USAA (insurance) and I also work for an insurance company in Colorado Springs. Good luck with your move and your job search as well! ~Cady

Hi Tracy! I live in the Springs and the best school districts are up north (District 20) and southwest (District 12). I would not put my children in any other school distric unless we moved way out East and put the in D49. Colorado Springs is growing quickly. It's becoming quite the little city! I hope you have a great visit! Good luck with your move.

Hi Tracy ! We moved to Colorado after my hubby retired from the AF in 2003 ,Yes, its just beautiful we bought a home in Woodland Park about 15 miles NW of the Springs love it here just under 7,500 people here I think the schools are better here because its a smaller community ,hubby is now a contractor for the AF at Peterson AFB he likes the commute . Good luck on your move . Kristy

HI TRACY, I LIVE IN CANON CITY, CO. IT'S ABOUT 45 MILES FROM COLORADO SPRINGS. WE ARE THE CLIMATE CAPITOL OF COLORADO. WHEN IT'S SNOWING ALL AROUND US WE CAN HAVE 70 DEGREE WEATHER. CANON IS GROWING SO FAST I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE IT. WE ARE FINALLY GETTING A HOME DEPOT. I USED TO LIVE IN THE SPRINGS BUT IT'S CHANGED SO MUCH I WOULDN'T KNOW ANYMORE WHERE IS BEST TO LIVE. COME TO CANON SOMETIME BECAUSE YOU JUST HAVE TO SEE THE ROYAL GORGE BRIDGE. IT'S THE WORLD'S HIGHEST SUSPENSION BRIDGE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR MOVE. LINDA

Tracy, First let me say congratulations on your weightloss, it is wonderful!! We have lived in the Springs almost 7 years and yes it has changed alot...it's so much bigger then it used to be. There is only one doctor here who is in the bariatric field and he is Dr. Fisher so not much of a job selection for bariatrics. We are retired Army and I currently work on Ft. Carson so not to familiar with your line of work. Hopefully you will find something you enjoy. Everyone has grand ideas of where they live and where you need to live but I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the many choices you will have now. We live out south-east and really enjoy not being in the city yet just 10 minutes away and I love our school district #3 which has a very small student/teacher ratio especially at Widefield H.S. were my teens are. I am only 3.5 months post-op and travel to Ft. Collins to my surgeon so I am not in a support group here yet so if you here about one let me know so I can join and meet you. If I can answer any questions on the Springs please let me know. Best wishes on your move! Melissa
