I posted on the main board too but..
I thought I'd come to the Colorado area and say howdy.
I'm Christy, I live in Aurora and I am not not post op, not pre op, I'm a nowhere near for the time being op.
I saw the ad in the Denver Post last weekend for the WLS seminar given by a Rose Medical center doctor and thought I might attend. Then I started researching and realized that Rose Medical center would not be an option for me as we dont currently have insurance and when we get it in July, it'll be Kaiser. So I started looking for information about WLS options here in Colorado on the net and bingo bango, found this site.
People have been very welcoming and friendly on the main area so far, so of course, I simply had to come check out the locals
Hi, I'm on CICP too. I called and found out that they will not cover any kind of WLS. I have gotten a loan and am going to self pay. Dr. Pettine in Fort Collins will do a RNY for under $15,000. and that includes anesthesiologist and surgery center, that is for 4 nights. If you have your PCP call your pre op tests in to your local hospital CICP will cover those. Dr. Pettine's office has sent my packet off to me and I will have my consultation 6 weeks after they get it back from me. I am soooo ready.
Hi Christy,
I am a Kaiser patient and have a serious success story to tell. If you are interested in reading my profile just hit the little button below this post that says profile. You can find out all about my experience. Long story short, I'm about 165 pound lighter than I was one year ago thanks to the folks at Kaiser.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello & welcome to Christy, Nicole (I met you tonight at the Aurora Support Group!), and Linda.
I work with the CICP program at University of Colorado Hospital. I know there are patients there who have had the surgery, but I am almost certain that they had Medicare coverage as well. The CICP program just does not have the funding alone to cover a surgery such as this.
My surgeon, Dr. Tillquist (who is affiliated with Swedish Hospital) does take Medicaid, however, for those who qualify for that program.
Linda, I grew up in Canon City (although I try not to admit it!) & most of my family is still there.
Y'all are welcome to check out my profile or e-mail me if you'd like
Julie
Thank you for the answers about CICP. I suspected this would be the case and frankly, have been very grateful for the other help that program has been able to provide my family. My husband is on about $2,000 of medications each month and one way or another, CICP has covered him almost completely (or found us other programs that will). They also helped with a hospital bill for a munchkin this fall, so really I have no room to complain.
I'm not sure what the qualifications for Medicare are; I am 99.9% certain I do not qualify for Medicaid.
Still looking like waiting until July and then picking up Kaiser is going to be my best option, and really, that's ok with me.
I'm thinking of checking out the Support meetings, if so, I'll see you all there
