I've spent the past few years thinking about getting the Gastric Bypass procedure done, however, I've always been worried I wouldn't qualify. I have no real medical problems other than joint pain but I have been excessively overweight my whole life. I'm in my early 20s and have a BMI of around 42. I was wondering if any of you have any "words of wisdom" about whether or not I may be able to get approved or if it's even worth trying. Thank you!

TRY!!! You'll never know unless you do. Until you try you have nothing to even consider. Just go to your PCP and ask about it, or if you don't need a referal, find a WL surgeon near you and go for it!!!

A BMI of 42 should qualify you. See your doc about it. If you need any suggestions re: WLS surgeons, etc. write and we'll try to help you out. Good luck, Rusty
