Don't feel like I have lost much weight, Dr. Schoen says I am doing fine. I don't use a scale as I feel that is kind of self defeating, but biggest problem I am having is motivating myself to walk. I am now on soft foods, but have not been measuring. Think I am going about this thing all wrong. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

Frederick, I am about 18 days post op. I live in South Englewood (now called Centennial)I only try to weigh myself once a week, but I do try and at least use a tablespoon when eating my mushy stuff (2 tablespoons = 1 oz) The key to the exercise, though, is that prior to the surgery, I sure couldn't motivate myself at all, but now, my doc (Dr Snyder) reminded me that with this very limited caloric intake, and high protein, the body wants to shut down and thinks it is in hibernation. Exercise keeps the body from getting all logey and stuff. It really has helped me. I walk about 30 minutes 2 times a day, and I don't feel depressed or anything (as a matter of fact, I feel incredibly upbeat) Hang in there. I am sure that this surgery was a great decision, you just need to believe in yourself
