13 October 2004 - 1 Week post-op visit with Kim (nutrition) and Dr. Snyder's office. I almost fell off the scale when Patrick weighed me in at 342 pounds. When I started the process and prior to surgery, I was at 370 pounds. The liquid diet removed 14 pounds the first week, then another 14 pounds post-surgery. I cannot believe it, but I'm already down 28 pounds!!!!! This is truly amazing and completely rejuvenating. I can't believe how good I feel. Also lost the JP drain on the right side today, which is fantastic. No more dangling bulb of body fluids leaving a lump under my shirt!! I found a great webcast online that details and shows the surgery in its entirety. It is completely fascinating (although my wife was nauseated by it). Go figure. It was done by a bariatric surgeon in New York at Beth Israel hospital back in 2003. Pretty interesting stuff. Next goal is the 3 week check-up to see how things are going at that point. And, drumroll please,... I can have 4 new foods!! What a treat that'll be after sucking down protein shakes for a week!. Lovin' it in Loserville!!

You'll be so glad to get real food in... although, you will be suprised how full you actually ARE after just a few bites. It is so very cool Thanks for the update! Hey, can you share that webcast with us? I'd like to check it out! Thanks! Take care, Susan

Congratulations! My wife thinks it is hilarious that I never liked tuna before but now that I can eat it, I LOVE IT! I eat tuna two meals a day! It is just so great to have something with texture in my mouth after those long weeks of liquids. Congratulations, again, Paul

Congratulations!!! Don't ya just LOVE being a loser? Are you walking a little bit every day, too? That'll make you feel stronger every day. Where's the webcast? I'd love to see it! Keep losing and getting healthier every minute.

Marty, Thanks for the well-wishes. I do love being a loser and hope to stay a loser for some time (at least until I'm down to goal). I walk quite a bit and my wife got me a pedometer, so that helps on how far each day. Usually about a mile or so per day, so far. You can check out www.or-live.com and look for the webcast from 2003 for the gastric bypass. Fascinating stuff. They have lots of different surgeries there for the watching, if you dare. Thanks, again, and take care. Ron
