ANYONE THATS HAS TRI-CARE INSURANCE

is there anyone out there that has gotten this surgery done by a civilian surgeron when the are military and if so did you have a co-pay or anything cause they are talking about refering us here at ft. carson to denver but im not sure if i want to do that if there is a high co-pay and all please let me know thanks heather

Hi Heather, My husband is AD and Buckley and I too am covered under TRICARE prime. I have been referred to the Univ of Colo (Dr Schoen) for my consultation which is next Tues. I was able to schedule an appt within 3 weeks of my inital call which I think is fantastic. If you are TRICARE prime you will have no co-pays for the pre-op procedures and your max cost will be $11.00 per day for the days you are in the hospital. The hurdle is not getting a referral to the surgeon, but having the surgery itself approved. You must be > 100 lbs over your "ideal weight" and have a significant co-morbidty or be 200% over your ideal weight. Wish me luck and please feel free to e-mail at the address below.
