First Post Op Mistakes

OK surgery was on the 22nd so that makes me 6 days out. So I am in Phase 2 of Kelly's diet plan. Phase 2 in the book says you can use strained soup instead of plain broth for better flavor. So yesterday hubby and I went to the store and got a bunch of creamed soups. And I ate one espresso cup sized portion of creamed soup (made with water, not milk). I was way stuffed but I figured that's how it feels after the surgery Now today, I cant even eat a little jello without feeling overstuffed -- IOW I'm still full! Now today I see that *creamed* soups aren't suppose to be added until phase 3 Oooops. Other probs: I can NOT get this protein powder in me! (Its the Unjury unflavored stuff) Also, the carb countdown just isn't sitting well, and if that stuff doesn't sit well I'm too afraid to try milk and see what effect that has on me. Meds also are NOT going down. Ugh gross! Any suggestions? Michelle

Hi, When I was still on the liquids I strained out all of the yummy stuff out of the Progresso soups and had the broth....YUMMY!!! I have not yet tried the carb countdown milk, but I did the regular milk and it was ok, but now i can not drink it it tastes sour to me. But I am sure it will get better. I am now 16 days out and have been moved to the pureed foods diet, and let me tell you when you get here it is HEAVEN!!! I have never really enjoyed the way things taste until now. Pintos from taco bell with tons of sauce are the best. I tried to puree some mac and cheese and it is not ez, and didnt sit well either. Sugar free jello is no longer a part of me since I left the hospital, sf popsicles are out of the question as well. I have not yet tried the protein powder, but going to next week. I hope that this helps a little!! Much Love, Kris PS I have a ton of SF jello and popsicles if anyone wants them. Just email me and let me know. [email protected] 285.5/264.8/140 -20.7YUPPIE!!!

Kris, I'll take the SF popcicles! I eat two a day! I have not tried the protein powder. I am scared of it! I just eat mostly meat, cheese, tuna. I liked the string cheese last week, but this week it tasted too salty - weird!!! I am down 49 lbs as of this morning - YAY!!!! Gotta get out there and walk my A** off today! hehe My next goal is to get under 200. I was at 218 this morning. I am MELTING! Susan 267/218/125

Michelle, I am too scared of the protein powder to even try it. The look of it gags me. My hubby has used it for years. It is not unusual for a portion of food to sit ok one day, and then for that same portion to be way too much or too little another day. Dr. Tillquist says that the pouches are very unpredictable. Don't sweat it! I liked the broth from progresso soups, too! Then, in the soft food stage, you'll drain the broth and eat the rest...lol Are you crushing your meds? I bought a pill crusher, and put the crushed pill in 1 oz of water and swallowed. Not great taste, but at least I didn't "feel the pill" in my pouch. Don't worry! You're doing great! By the way, how much have you lost?!?!?!? Inquiring minds want to know! Susan 267/218/125
