Insurance - United Health Care
Hello Everyone!
Anyone out there using UHC? I am curious about what I will need to do before I can be approved for surgery. My appointment with Dr Tillquist is in November, but I would like to know in advance so I can be prepared.
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom~I look forward to meeting you all at the next meeting!
Thanks,
Miranda
Hi Loletta,
Thanks for the reply! I have a plan that will cover any doctor 80% my part 20%. I sure hope I don't have too difficult of a time. I have tried many diets, 2 documented - weigh****chers and slim4life. Should I contact both companies and request my documentation from them? Also, I don't have any special conditions outside of 40bmi. What other problems do you need to have? Thanks again for your help. Good luck to you on your appeal. Keep me posted.
Thanks,
Miranda
I also have UHC. You may want to find out if your policy has a written exclusion. You should ask your HR department for a copy of the policy and them check it out. Be careful if you call the UHC customer service because you may get the wrong answer. I was told that the surgery was covered, but it was not. Also, find out if your employer is self insured. If they are, the employer tells UHC what they want in the policy. It is your employer that dictated what is covered and what is not covered. If there is no exclusion, UHC is one of the more reasonable insurance companies. I have been fighting this for 2 years. My employer decided the exclusions and they will not cover the surgery. However, I have not given up that maybe at the end of this year they may offer the surgery. I will not give up. Don't you give up either!! Terry Lynn
Dr. Tillquist is excellent, as is Eileen his assistant. Colorado has some great laws, fight on.

Other than taking forever and driving me wild they really didn't give me any problems.
This is 4 months post-op now, they absolutely drove me crazy getting to surgery. You need to decide who is more determined, you or them, and dig your heels in accordingly.
Good luck on your weight loss journey.
