Hey everyone; I will have another call into the doctor later this morning, but I wanted to pick brains in here and see what the heck may be going on!??!?!? On Friday morning I woke up and was feeling OK so I started some cereal and then had the MOST intense shooting, stabbing and painful cramps like gas that came in waves ~ The pain was so bad I was doubled over crying and then I vomited and passed out... I called Dr.T and he put me on liquids for 1-2 days. Well it passed after about and hour I guess and I felt fine so I thought... just a virus perhaps???? WELL, last night it happened AGAIN and it was just as bad except I vomited 3 times and just was shaking and in so much pain that I really wanted to call 911 cause I was freaking out! Could NO****ch my kids and my sis-in-law came over (THANK GOD) to help with the kids.... Anyone know WHAT the heck may be going on??? Like I said, Im going to call Dr.T this morning but just thought if someone has had similar problems that may be able to enlighten me???? I dont think I can handle another bout of whatever this may be, it's just really awful I dont even want to eat!!! My friend (who has not had GB) had something similar and they said it was gastritis (sp?) BUT then I thought about gall bladders and ulcers and am scared that it may be this?? Gall stones cause this ONLY happens when I eat! Any help would be great, Im just so freaked out and still feel icky this morning Hugs! Judith

Judith, I am sorry to that you are having these horrible episodes!!! How scary!! Let us know what Dr. T says. I can tell you what it is not, and that is an ulcer. I have one of those and have not experienced anything remotely like that. Keep us updated. Love ya, Leslie

I have had exactly the same thing twice, minus the passing out, but I think we all have different levels of threshold for pain. It happened to me right after I eat, I think either your food isn't being chewed well enough and possibly getting stuck a little before it goes thru or your pouch is over full.. eat slower, thats what I was told. it worked, haven't experienced it again, yet. And I hope I never doo.. OUCH. Korianne

Thanks for the info.... Yeah, Im not sure Kori cause in 4 months, I have never had the problem with eating too fast, and this has been 2 times in the last 4 days, I just am clueless.... Im going to just ask Dr.T to bring me in for tests, because I just CANT go through that pain again, it is just so awful it makes me cry Jude

Judith-- When you talk to the Doctor, you might ask him if you have developed an "Ileus", that is when the Bowel goes to sleep. This happened to me two times and I had to be admitted to the hospital. It was very painful and they ran lots of test to see if there was a leak. I really thought I had eaten something I wasn't supposed to or done something wrong. Dr. Snyder said there is really no way to predict when someone might have this and it could be right after surgery or down the road. At any rate, they had to give me morphine to control the pain, put me back on liquids and see about the blockage. It seemed to resolve itself. Mine happened two weeks after surgery about five days apart. Hope this helps. You might also try some Peptobismal, liquid or chewable to sooth your stomach. A laxative might also help if you have a blocked bowel, but you will probably want to do liquid, because all the "small" tablets are HUGE! Carla P.S. if they put you on a liquid diet, they may give you Potassium because your levels will go down. It is not very comfortable.
