Colorado Springs Support Group?
Hello Everyone! I have finally decided after soul searching forever to have WLS. My doctors name is Tillquist. I am on a list (mile long) to meet with him on Nov 12th. I had no idea it would take that long,,, but you know what they say, anything worth having is worth waiting for!!
I am looking for a support group in the Cos Spgs area, any ideas out there? I have read many of your posts, and I am so proud of each and everyone of you! I have a long road ahead of me, but it will be worth the journey. Anyone using Dr Tillquist? Any advice??
Best of luck to you all!
Miranda
Hi Miranda,
My name is Leslie and I also am seeing Dr. Tillquist... I called in Jan and just had my consult today.. July 8th... Everyone in the office, Eileen, CJ and Dr. T are so very nice and helpful...
I too played the waiting game... it sucks.. but the time does go by fairly quickly... Nov will be here before you know it... try not to think about it and keep yourself busy... Thats what I had to do... I was so excited last night that i couldnt sleep... so I was tired going in there... LOL... Now i go to my nutrition class on sunday and then have my psych eval and then submit to ins... so im praying everyday.. hopefully things will move along more quickly now... Just hang in there.. We all play the waiting game...
What insurance are you going to use?
Well, hope that helped you out a bit... sorry i cant help with the CO springs support group... I live in Lakewood... I know there is a support group meeting the 18th of this month in Arvada... but that is a bit far for you...
Gotta get going... have a great weekend..
Leslie
Miranda,
Welcome I am a patient of Dr. Tillquist's. I am one-month post-op today, and am down 35 lbs! I called him in June of 2003, and had to wait until January 2004 for my consultation - the wait is very common, and yes, it stinks!
I didn't get my surgery until June, but that was because I had to fight Cigna for 5 months for my approval.
There are a few people on this board from the springs, and hopefully, they will read your post and give you some information on support groups down there. They have even been known to drive up here to Arvada for our once-a-month meetings. (carpooling)
Anyway, we are GLAD you're here!!!!
Susan
Hmmm... I just typed out a long reply, hit submit then the post dissapeared!
Oh well, the abbreviated version of that post was that there is a WLS meeting tonight at Penrose Hospital Cancer Center at 6:30 pm. I have never been to this one before but I am going to try to go tonight.
Also feel free to email me if youd like to get together
Michelle

Oh man, I can't believe I missed that meeting! I have just now been able to sign on. My nephew is in town and we went to see Spiderman2. When is the next meeting?
Thanks for all the kind words and support, you all are awesome.
My insurance is United Health Care.
I have so many questions.....one that is burning in my mind is how long is it before you can go back to work?
Thanks again,
Miranda
Hey Miranda
The next meeting is Friday August 27 at 6:30 PM. And just a little hint since I got lost finding the place... It's on the corner of Cascade and Jackson. For anyone there that I didn't get to say hi too, I was the one that came in late (cuz I was lost ) with the denim shorts and red shirt. So a great big to anyone I missed
As far as how long before you can go back to work... I am told 3 weeks. Hope to see you next time Miranda

Miranda...the Penrose meeting is on EVERY 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. At penrose Cancer Center on Monroe St. We start at 6:30pm but you can come anytime...it usually takes 2 hours and it's an awesome bunch of people.
Hope to see you there on July 23rd (I'll be out of town but the meeting WILL BE THERE)
Hugs,
Paola
You might be able to see Dr. Johnell sooner. He is in Greeley which sounds like a long way away, but isn't really too far (if you take E-470), it's like 2 1/2 hours--and no T-Rex
His number is 1-800-722-0609 and ask for his office.
He takes all the insurances, was really cool, great staff, and he does a TON of these surgeries so the hospital staff is terrific.
I am a nurse and I couldn't have been more impressed.
Good luck, but you might want to check him out.
Eileen
