Dr. Synder in Denver question about post op
I have an appointment in a few weeks with Dr. Snyder inDenver,
I am traveling from KC to see him,
Has anyone had a LapBand surgery from him? I hear most insurance companies are not wanting to pay for that surgery.
I am interested about "after surgery, the RNY or Lap"
What is like the first few weeks.. what can you eat, how much?
Is it hard to get all the water and protein?
Does he make you do shakes for a while?
Do you need to take vitamins and or shots , how ofter?
How fast do you loose wait with the RNY compared to the Band?
So many questions.. I am really ready to do this, I think?
Any info is appreciated. Kerrie
Dear Kerri,
My name is Kim Delamont I am the Bariatric coordinator for Rose Hospital in Denver. There is a lapband support group here at Rose the 4th Monday of the month. Flori runs this program and she and many others did not have the procedure with Dr. Snyder but use Rose a
s there meeting place. I'm sorry but I don't have Flori's e-mail but I will get it for you so you can start the connection. The best way for now is through [email protected], she is the liason for Dr. Snyder. To answer your question yes you drinks shakes for a couple weeks and then it's really a volume issue as it is only a restrictive procedure. The first fill is sometimes around 6 weeks as the swelling decreases and if your appetite increases. There is a person in support group that has never had a fill, so it is individual. We encourage you to do mostly protein and use the 75% rule and the other25% you can do other foods.
There is a lot os other support on line. One is bandsters. Try under yahoogroups and search under lapbands.
Good Luck and I'll meet you when you come down.
