Korianne, I am soo sorry I did not realize that you just had surgery. I usually call everyone in the hospital and see how you are doing and post back to the boards. I am obviously falling down on the job!!!!! Soooo how are you doing? Did everyting go smooth, no complications hopefuly. As far as being 5 days post opt. I was on an all milk and liquid diet per my nutritionist and surgeons rules. It sounds as though you have been able to go straight to the soft diet (mashed potatoes, baby food, patmeal). Try milk with sugar free carnation breakfast mix. It has pretty good protine in is and goes down nicely. Welcome to the loosing side!! Leslie

I don't know about the mashed potatoes, I would save those for the pureed foods, but at nutrition class I think they said "no white stuff", and we need to focus on proteins, like pureed meat (devils food chicken salad, you can season it), tuna, etc. Not trying to rain on your parade, but at first you will want to be real careful about what you put in your pouch. I left something for you at Dr. Snyder's office, should you need it. Carla

Korianne, I, too, lived on Celestial Seasonings herbal tea post op. I did put some sweet-n-low into a few cups to satisfy my sweet-tooth. It is WEIRD! I could not stand herbal tea pre-op - tasted like nothing! Now, it is very flavorful The mashed potatoes are HEAVEN - but I didn't start them till the pureed food stage (week 3 for me) I actually got these yummy ones at Big Lots in Lakewood... they are instant, in a little individual sized sup (individual for pre-op people, one will last me 4 meals!) I got 2 different flavors: Sour Cream & Onion, and Cheddar & Jalapeno. YUMMMMYYYYYYYYY!!!! And, they were only 49 cents a pop! I would say post op, just follow your nutritionist;s guidelines VERY closely! Hugs, Susan 2 weeks post op 28 lbs down!!!
