Home from the hospital
Hello everyone! I had surgery last Thursday (6/3) at Rose Medical by Dr Snyder. So far things have gone really smoothly. The only thing that frustrates me is that I haven't lost a pound yet. Actually, because I was on the liquid diet three days before the surgery I had lost 3, but during my hospital stay I seemed to have gained those three back. I am also craving things like crackers and food. I have been very careful to follow the eating plan exactly as he has it written. Now I just feel like a morbid obese woman with a drain hanging out my side. Is this normal? I receive emails from the people on Obesityhelp.com and they are all welcoming me to the losing side.....and I'm not losing. Please ...I would appreciate any piece of advice.
Thanks
Shelley
Hi, This is Shelley again!
Thank you so much Mary and Korianne for your replies. Today has been a really rough day. I am pretty down and am struggling to get the needed protein down. I am also discouraged that both the north and south support groups are taking the month of June off. I keep telling myself that this will soon pass, but I am weak, tired and full. I guess the full part is great. Mary could you tell me how you handled the first week...and suggestions for coping? Any great tasting protein drinks? I'm so glad you guys are out there!
Shelley
Hi Shelly, I had my surgery 6/1/04 at Rose Med. I'm doing good. I like to take a pre mixed Atkins Advantage Shake (available at Wal-mart, GNC), 4oz of 1% milk, and 2 scoopes of Por Plan 55 (from GNC), and mix it all together in a blender. That totals 75 grams of protien. Put that into a shaker cup and do 4oz 4 X a day that takes care of all your protien for the day. Tastes good and my favorite flovor is Cafe'e au lait. shake=20g, 2 scoops of Pro Blend = 55g, then 1% milk = 4g and lasts all day. Hang in there. Mary Troyer
