My Insurance has an exclusion and Told Dolly at Dr. Snyder's office that they would not pay, I have tried a loan and that was no go. Does anyone have any other suggestions. The Gal's at work seem to think that we should have a bake sale ( I don't think they were serious, If so they do not know the kind of money we are talking about) or to contact Extreme make over.. Any Help would be appreciated.. Thank you in advance. Kathy

I would try both of those options, or do a search on the internet under Yahoo, Google, MSN, etc. for makeover shows, or makeover auditions, something like that. You could also consider going to a surgeon that will let you make payments (not sure of any offhand). The other option is to go south of the border, I think it runs around $10k there (at least that would be easier to raise). Good luck Judith

You could always try to get different insurance. I know that sounds easier said than done, but its worth the thought. Try medicaid, sometimes you can get medicaid even if you are working and sometimes even if you already have insurance. Good Luck Michelle

OH those insurance companys are such tricky things.. lol I know some have the exclusion to WLS if you are obese, how ever pay if you are Super obese.. Sometimes it is in the way that the paper work is worded.. Strange isn't it ?? And sometimes it take a personal visit to the groups head quarters to finnaly get approved.. I probley had one of the hardest insurance companys to fight inorder to get my surgery done !! They had denyed me, put me into review, then said I was on the go ahead, then the day of per op, put the case back into review again !! Talk about a NIGHTMARE of a company !! I started my journey in March of 2000.. and after they kept switching the doc that they would allow, and what test they wanted done four and five times over and over, recieved letters from different doctors that requested to have this done to save my LIFE. They finnally approved me July 18 2003.. and you can bet your right arm I RAN not walked into surgery the 21..lol Before they could change their minds again !! then after it was said and done, they only paid less then half of the amout of the surgery !! SO now I struggle every month and make payments to my doctor office. BUT I am SO LUCKY to finnally have mine done now.. I am now 10 months post op, and down now 162 pounds 40 pounds from goal !!! Would I go through the insurance fight again ?? YOU BET YOU I WOULD!! Audrey
