I did have luck with United but it was a long hard road for me. First, I called United before I started my journey and asked them if I was covered on my plan. Insurance is like buying a car -- every plan has different options. I was told I was covered so I continued. Next, I put in for surgery and . . . . WAS DENIED BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T COVER THE SURGERY! That was hard to believe. It took me a couple months and three appeals to work through that one. Finally, the last appeal, the enrollee hearing is like a jury of my peers. They looked at the documentation I submitted and forced the insurance company to pay because they told me I was covered under my particular policy. If it winds up they won't pay for yours, I would suggest calling other insurance companies and hospitals and finding out what the hospitals actually pay. My bill was over $30k. I think my insurance company actually shelled out about $3k. Not even close! Let me know how it goes. [email protected]
