I need help...I have 6 lab puppies, and they are 3 weeks old. My problem is that I am so attached to these babies I don't want to see them go. The parents are both mine, and since I had to have a hystorectomy due to PCOS/D it was like I gave birth to them. I could never sell my babies how can I sell these. Does any one have any ideas to make this process any easier?? I will take any advice you have. My hubby told me just to think of them as rats, but once you see them they are so sweet and they all know my voice and they all have names, (Elvis, Jack, Sara, Lexi, Lizzie, and CC(chocolate Chip) she is chocolate) How can I make this easie on myself and my emotions and heart?? This is a tough one. I have a friend who breeds jack Russels.SHe goes throught the same thing every time. She suggests you screen your buyer. DO NOT give those precious little angels to just anyone! If you have any reservation- DOn't let them have one. It's your choice. The pups would be very happy in the right home. All would have a chance to be the alpha dog...if they aren't together. You know, leader-dog wise of thier pack (family) Good luck!

Kris, I am so sorry you are going through this. Is there any way you can keep them? I have never had to do this myself but I do have kids so understand the closeness.. If you ever do want some nice families for them or decide to sell any of them let me know. I am one who has grown up frightened of dogs but have wanted one for awhile for my kids (14,12,10,8,5,4,17 months) and I have heard that Labs are quite gentle. I also have seven children who would enjoy a pet and they are gentle so you wouldn't have to worry about my kids being rough. Also my BIL adores dogs and is looking for another. He has 4 kids and a Chinese *****I think thats what it's called). As for us there are no other pets here at all. Thank you and hugs, Michelle

Hey there, Kris - I rescue cats and have had many of the same problems with the kittens I have to place. Here's what I've found helps: - definitely only place the puppies with people you trust, and who will give you their contact info - tell the people you place them with that if they have any problems with the puppies whatsoever, to come back to YOU with them - not the Humane Society, not some rescue organization, but you - check on the puppies a month after you place them, and then at three months, and then at six months. That way you can be available if anything comes up - offer to serve as a babysitter for the puppies if the people who place them need someone to - that way you get to visit every so often I don't know what the stats are for dogs, but for cats, only 1 out of every 5 kittens gets a stable home. The rest end up poorly. So I go out of my way to make sure that the kittens I raise get the best chance at life as possible. Good luck to you! Frances

Good morning, I know I am a bit late with this repley.. I do Dachshund rescue .. I have placed several beautiful Dachshunds in very loveing homes.. So I know what you are going through with these puppies.. What I do when I recieve a dachie , is now mid you mine have mostly been adults, But befoe I will place a dachshund into a home I always do a complete check .. I visit the homes, look around to see if there is other animals in the home, kind of watch how they are being treated, by the family.. I look to see if there is adaqui****er and food left out for them, I look at the yards to see if there is alot of animal fecises in the yard, this tells me if they spend much time cleaning up and playing with their animals, I ask for the information on their personal vet choices, I ALWAYS call their vet to see how often they take their animal in for vet checks and shot , I ask for a referial of how they treat in the vets opion they care for the animal.. I talk to the neighbors to see if they hear alot of people yelling at the animal , if they notice if they walk their animal.. Play ball with their animal ( dog).. I do show up unanounced, like I just poped into the neighborhood to visit.. and ALWAYS have my rescues nutered and spayed.. If one comes to me before this is done I do have it done before they are placed into a home.. One lady I work with in rescue does allow hers to go to home before this is done, However when they take the pup they are to pay a deposit of 150.00 to be given back when they bring to her a slip from the vet showing that the pup has been spayed or nutered within 6 months.. This ensures the fact that they are not wanting one dog and not wanting to start breeding them.. Good luck..Audrey
