I am going shopping this weekend and I want to pick up stuff that I will need before, during and after surgery. What are some things that all you post-ops peoples had/wished you had for these times? I am thinking that I will want light loose comfortable clothing and a robe, but what will I want/need in the hospital and at home? Thanks!! Kris Lets dance Susan

The most important thing to pack is your best attitude. A robe to cover that indescrete hospital attire, for your walks. Some slippers that won't let you fall. I wore home what I wore in...but some people wear thier own PJ's. My drain was taken out the day I went home, and it leaked around the dressing for a good day. At home have boullion, jello, crystal lite, and SF popcycles, and SF Kool-aid.

Kris, Do you have a surgery date?!?!? I am dying to get my approval, cuz they won't give me a surgery date without it Some post-ops have said that even though it was not "on schedule", they got their period the day or two after surgery, so they suggest bringing "supplies". Lip balm is a MUST I'd bet. Susan

Hey Kris; Here is what I would say; For the hospital PJs that are loose A robe slippers lip balm provisions (if you are expection your period, I didnt have mine) a determined but great attitude! Afterwards Crystal Lite (SUNRISE) is the bomb! Broth SF Jello SF Popsicles ~ Awesome! Any vitamins you may need (I did the SF Flinstones thing 2x a day) Several bottles with lids so you can take em ANYWHERE cause you need to sip sip sip sip sip sip sip and you will feel parched!

Kris, The only thing no one mentioned, and I thought was essential, were teabags...pick a flavor you like the best (without caffeine). I found warm liquids went down really easy and still do. They also help when you need to take pills...make them go down faster/easier. God Bless, Paola
