Question for today
Kris,
The most stressfull part of WLS for me making sure I get in all the protein, water and vitamins everyday. Somedays it is a real challenge.
Best advise I would have would be to be well informed on the the procedure, and what to expect afterwards. I did a lot of reasearch.
Most rewarding part of the journey so far has been loosing the weight, buying new clothes, feeling better everyday, and actualy succeeding after so many failed attempts.

I would have to say that the most stressfull thing for me right now is having to wait until June to see the doctor, and then having to fight with the insurance company. I am not the most patient person in the world and it just seems to me that the time between now and June 7th is going to go by so slowly.
The most rewarding part is knowing that once I do have the surgery I will be on my way to being happy and healthy. I will be able to take my puppies on long hikes and not be out of breath like I am now, I will be able to go shopping with friends and not have to go into speciality shops. The most rewarding part is knowing that I will be around long enough to see my husbands and mine 50th wedding anniversary.
Kris
Hi again, Kris -
The most stressful part of WLS for me is eating - I can eat whatever I want and I can eat a lot of it, so I really have to make sure I don't overeat (which is the only time I throw up).
Advice for your consultation? Take someone else with you to read the doctor from another perspective, and write all of your questions down.
Most rewarding part of the journey? Being able to up my activity levels, and getting so much better at my favorite sport, volleyball! I've played forever, but now people WANT me on their teams instead of SUFFER having me on their teams!

Hello,
I'm a new face...so to speak...around here, but hope I can be of some help!
The most stressful part of WLS for me has been the "head hunger" issue. This is something I've struggled with for many years...obviously why I had to have surgery in the first place. I knew it would be an issue with me, so I took steps to work on this in advance of my surgery. I started counseling well before my surgery date and have gotten much additional help through various support groups/boards. I think the more prepared you are going into the surgery...the better it will work for you.
As for the rewards, they are many, many, many!!
First and foremost for me is already seeing improved health...such as getting off of medications and feeling better physically. After the health comes the fun stuff of feeling better about myself, being able to shop in ANY store I want...not being limited to a few, and the continual amazement from people around me at my success.
One little (understatement) reward that I just got recently was being able to buy a swim suit for a vacation in Las Vegas and it being a smaller size than I anticipated and being able to wear it in public and actually feel happy about it...not ashamed. I never would have been able to say that in the past!!!
Hope my reply helps a little!
Have a wonderful day!!
